Hi
My partner comes in before his time, runs around the walk, falls, puts the post in wrong addresses, damages mail, anything to get round as fast as he can, the amount of complaints I get from people is unreal, hes a dickhead and all others that do the same are fools and make life hard for everyone.
Regards
P

There is no way you should be waiting around kicking your heels whilst a 'slower' partner is still delivering. You only make the job longer for yourself in the end as you are both working together from one van and have to meet up at roughly the same time ideally. Make the loops smaller, that will cut down on the disparity between the two, our loops were far too large when set up by management, and they allowed us to reduce the sizes and also make them more even as we both deliver parcels from the trolley. As the driver I was finding it ridiculously heavy some days which meant the loops were hugely mismatched and the deliverer was waiting for ever for me,now we both deliver parcels and mail on smaller loops and go a nice steady speed to meet up within a minute or two of each other or help each other finish loops off.

In summary, my experience is if you keep to the loops that they want you to do on set up they will not work well at all as the larger they are, the more time variation and problems of meeting up occur. You need to both get together and work the thing between you, use your initiative as a team. The quickest way is operating on your own, but we have agreed to work a different way now and there is no going back.

Footnote to all the positivity above, last week we were told to come in at 9am not 7am and the round is being prepped before our arrival by a full timer. And we are being split up. Therefore our reward for setting the thing up and working on it as a team for 10 months is a two hour a day pay cut!! Ridiculous and extremely disappointing. Hopefully it won't last past the cut off point for manager bonuses for reducing the wage bill.

We are both part timers on minimum 20 hour contracts, however as you will know we generally get more than that per week. This was a P & L that no full timers wanted to do (too long for their hours). So two p/t ers ended up doing it. You get used to a certain hours per week, but without telling us to our faces it appeared on a noticeboard one weekend and that appears to be that for now. Harder to get enough hours now to pay the bills etc again.
