Like a lot of contentious RM issues that affect our working day lives, each day needs to be judged on its own merits.

Great example today on my walk, normally Monday has a low call rate and low attendence call rate (signture items and other standard items that won't fit through the letterbox). If prep was done to "double prep standards" before I arrived, I'd expeact to normally stand a chance of completing the whole of my walk inside contract hours. However, I arrived with ~1 hours prep left to do and ~100% call rate because of Scottish Power mail.
As it was, I had to leave ~25% for someone else to do, but what if my manager was under the impression I would lapse every Monday without fail? Lapsing by definition is making use of contract hours left after completing the scheduled duty, nobody knows how much time they have "spare" until they are nearly ready to bundle up.

Now if everyone delivered using all aspects of RM delivery protocol, rather than "cutting corners" (even simple things like filtering the next delivery point's mail while walking, instead of being stationary outside the address of the last call), the amount of lapsing time would be drastically cut (saving jobs, even needing more hours put back into the office).

This is the point. we cannot guarantee to absorb even 24 hours in advance when we dont know what the traffic is going to be. How many people do cycle/van checks on a daily basis? Clash, are you saying that we will have to do more indoor work in order for part time duties to do more delivery work. I personally dont have a problem with that. It,s the extra outdoor work thats the killer. Nobody should have to do more than 4 hours delivering under any delivery method. The union should never have agreed to increase in walk times.

Back of 11 we're allowed to leave the office, unless you're one of the Favourites and that's anytime between 9am-10am whilst the rest get held back, DOM was out Patrolling the Hood the other week on the lookout for folk sneaking out making them come back though his little Pets can get left to finish for 1PM.... WTF get a life you sad M.F. !!! He's the 1 fooking off early everyday n going home at half 11 on a SAT - YES we all know who's OVER-PAID & UNDERWORKED shame RM doesn't see it that way £30,000+ p/a FOR WHAT??? half a shift everyday?? - 4 people in our office being made up to be Coffee Testers sorry meant Managers still no New Starts must be something to do with the bigger picture.

When your revision comes, the shoe will be on the other foot. There will be Saturdays where you will be struggling to complete and may need to cut off, and on those days your manager probably won't be able to convince a docket king to take on your excess, and he/she will be panicking, trying to get you out the door as early as possible

Saturday has been a normal day in our office since at least the last revision. Actually, it's probably now the busiest day of the week and we have 20 minutes less time to do the work in. Absolute genius.

And still the managers all fudge off well before our finish times! What happens if someone has an accident on delivery etc? The locker staff, all one of them, is the only person left in the office between 9am and 3pm. How is this allowed?
