Quick question: If I agree to do overtime working a day off in advance, what position am I if I can no longer do it?

Can I just turn round and say I can't do it anymore (its next Monday so still enough to arrange alternate cover Id imagine)? I realise its probabaly not on generally, but whats the official position, as I'm not contractually obliged to turn up.

Today's highlights: Seeing double preppers fudge prepping when true indoor work is being referenced against the IWT on Thurs and Fri for the next two weeks, when the 30+ hour employees were all briefed in a meeting the day before to do the job properly. Oh and finding a stack of live mail dumped in one of my deads trays from my recent floating day off.

Was unable to do ~25% of my walk inside my duty hours again and still went over.
