Brighton has a population of 155,000
A backlog of more than 1,000 parcels and packages, surely no more than ten parcels or packages per walk, is described as a huge backlog.
Another quiet news day in that part of Sussex.

Backlog at Brighton sorting office

Post by CORTINA »

Maybe they should try this system.... Ha Ha....

If we go out later, the mail will be delivered later, unless we walk faster and the mail will be on time.
But if we go out on time the mail maybe later if we have a lot to deliver.
Sometimes when we have less, and we can slow down and the mail is late again.
And if a few posties don`t turn up the mail sometimes doesn`t go out at all.
Most days our system works, but we have the odd days when it dosn`t. or we don`t use the system at all.
Sometimes the job is changed and made so complicated, that we forget what the changes were. that we were told to do.
Tuesdays is our easier day, but can be a busy day, after sorting out the mistakes from monday
Wednesdays is alway a busy day unless there a low volume of mail, and then we go out late and finish early
Thursdays is always so busy with no time to even speak, but last week we had 30 min WTL meeting.
Fridays is always easy for me as i am not there, its my day off.
Saturday i am recovering from friday...so its a normal day

Lets not take life too seriously......... unless you have full control.... nobody is perfect.....

This could become a very circular thread - however as long as its within the rules anyone can post what they want, even complaining, and yes even complaining about complaining. :chuckle :chuckle

But I really don't like the way TBT is complaining about Bahia Feliz complaining about DGP1 complaining about his leave.
If it gets much worse I shall have to look into making an official complaint.

I don't like the way this thread is going off topic...

Position Type: Postperson - Delivery
Key Word/Location: "Brighton"

We are sorry but there are currently no opportunities that matched the criteria you used.
However, it is likely that we will be recruiting within this area in the future. Why don't you sign up for email job alerts so we can tell you when we do have vacancies that match what you are looking for.

If they are understaffed why aren't they recruiting?

I am sorry but posts from the naughty room are discounted as per the notice on the door. I think at the last audit that would account for about 50% of yours. :chuckle :chuckle :nervous

Because that will mean admitting that their revision was fudged, so for now they will blame the backlog on "teething problems" and then rely on posties cutting corners regarding mail security and their own health and safety, as a way of offloading the pressure of unchievable walk sizes for the contract hours given.

thing is that, we were a great public service. we used to do 2 deliverys a day. we posted our first letter at 6.45 and god help you if didnt bring your torch. everyday the office was clear of that days mail. you were proud of being a postie and people respected you for getting up at a unholy hour, walk in the rain to deliver there mail. nowdays, if you a old fulltimer then you hunted down, any reason to get rid. the public get 1 delivery a day if you lucky it be b4 12. 1 postbox collection a day, i remember the most rural being 3 times a day. i know jobs change but not like this, sorry for the ramble but i just wanted to get it off my chest

Is there still a big backlog? I Have now some 12 parcels late - presumably STUCK in Brighton sorting office. All sent First class from 28th Feb - so now first class is taking 11 days and counting! I've been to the delivery office twice, numerous phone calls and the number for the manager in Brighton just keeps ringing! I'm thoroughly sick of this non-service. When will parcel deliveries get back on track?
