Royal Mail has announced Halstead posties will move out of town this summer.

Royal Mail had hoped to have closed the Chapel Street postal depot by now, but the plan to move posties to Sudbury has been delayed.

But Communication Workers Union representative Peter Boulton, a former Halstead postman, said until the matter of where to store undeliverable items was resolved, the depot would stay put A Royal Mail spokesman has confirmed they are looking at the possibility of WHSmith providing such as facility.
