Anyone started as a flexible resource in Swansea yet?

Starting to wish I'd applied for a Xmas job rather than this 'casual flexible resource' job (thought it might start sooner).

I only received my photo ID card last Saturday, 26/11 (having had to send in a second lot of photos, the originals were apparently 'lost').

The week before Angard also claimed they'd not received my contract which had been sent to them, by me, during late October (the day it was e-mailed).

I'm also starting to think that those specifically there for Xmas have jumped ahead of me.

Last year, you just turned up at the registration event, first come, first served, your docs were checked, you picked a shift and then turned up on the day.

Hi I applied for the casual flexible resource role and had a interview back in November now, have received my I'd badge and just want to know what happens next, will I get an induction day or anything or anymore information about when I start? Thanks. Sam

Just sit by the phone all day everyday! Don't forget to take your mobile with you when you go out or even worse go to the loo. Angard may ring you but in a normal week they probably won't. Work with RM is a stated "flexible" and everyone should be fully aware that YOU WILL NOT make a living out of the work you get.What you get for one week may have to last you for 2 weeks after that. You can never plan! That said its best you try and find another job even part time that gives a regular income.
If you on JSA STAY SIGNED ON. You will only have to sign off if you go over 16 hours. That way you can work a shift and know that you will still have benefit coming in.

On the first day is there an induction or anything? Yeah I might have to find another Job aswell as have this one lol.

Yes, there will be an induction session, not forgetting the video, even if you have done it/seen it before. Yes, I think that you should take the other's advice & either stay on JSA or look around for other jobs (not easy in the current economic climate). You will have read about the problems that other people have had with pay, so it might be a good idea to take a photo of each day's timesheets. Sounds a bit OTT but I think that the others on this forum will agree with me. Good luck!

So basically everyone that works for royal mail never have guaranteed work? It just seems so unorganized, like i havent been told about pay or anything. Also if they offer me the morning shift, do you get an option to deliver mail on foot? Thankyou

Not everyone at Royal Mail just the Angard casual flexible resources.
Have you been told where you will work - either Delivery Office/Mail Centre?
Was your offer subject to being able to drive?

I was called 25 mins before a shift on Monday. Yesterday it was "Can you turn up ASAP?" I couldn't!

I had 30 mins notice on Tuesday, about 2 hours notice on Monday, 1 hour notice yesterday (did not go in to this one). This is pretty normal for my mail centre as well as "can you get in now". My worse call-in time wise was a call at 1440 that asked if I could do a 4 hour shift from 1400 . I did ask if they still needed people before going in and if I would get 4 hours from when I got there or would it finish at 1800.

Planning anything is a nightmare! I have to keep a change of clothes in the car along with work boots and hi-vis as I normally get the call from the Mail Centre (NOT Angard) with 1-2 hours notice.
I have had to turn down a shift 2 weeks ago as I had already made plans for that evening to actually go out and have a bit of a social life, to be honest I have always turned in at the drop of a hat on previous occasions but the manager seemed really put out that I said no!! Guess thats why I have had no more work since...
