Royal Mail Group’s chief executive has praised the efforts of Royal Mail staff for delivering a great Christmas 2011 to customers across the UK.

In a thank you message, she told employees: “What an amazing job you did delivering the country’s Christmas. Our customers were relying on us and you delivered for them. Thank you.”

She said a major focus for the business is in developing the parcels business, a big growth area.

“You only have to look at what was in our trolleys at Christmas and January sales to see this is an opportunity for us,” she said.

“We may be handling fewer letters, but mail is still a cost-effective way of advertising and reaching customers.

“That is why we are looking to build a strong media business that builds on the business we already have in this market.”

Or on my shoulder, as it was. I'd quite like a trolley for the front-and-backs on my P&L duty but the planner buggered off in November without looking into it.
The machine stops.

Hang on mate, Moya only got around £400,000 in bonuses, for f**k all, so lay off her. Took her a whole six months as well poor mite.

Hooray !! They've finally noticed parcels are a growth area. Maybe now they'll start to take them seriously and give them the priority they deserve.

Slow news day in Wales?
Moya thanked us yonks ago.
Looks like she's had a makeover as well...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
