Do they need qualifications ? Even if u have work experience as postie ?
Where to look for them jobs ?
Etc etc
well from my experienc
being good at your job, hell even being able to complete a delivery
excludes you from the recruitment process

A lad at our office has been in less than a year and he's passed the Deputy Managers assessment/Interview so time is not an issue.
No qualifications required, look on the RM internet site periodically or your noticeboard, alternatively ask your own manager if there are any roles coming up.
A clear concise reply with no sarcasm or baiting ! The ‘aquarium’ would do well to pay heed
Why need it be the dark side to improve yourself ? There are terrible managers and fair ones, like wise for postman (OPG)
If you want to improve yourself fine but come on. A ROYAL MAIL LINE MANAGER?
There are plenty of management jobs outside of RM. Improve yourself elsewhere. In Royal Mail you need zero man management skills, zero intelegence, the list goes on. These people are not real managers in the traditional sense.
However, if you drag your knuckles as you move, go for it just don't cross me
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

what u say abt managers in royal mail; is 101% fact except a few manager. not few but 1 manager to be exact.
why i asked about it is also for the same reason i.e. 'like u said ''-In Royal Mail you need zero man management skills, zero intelegence, the list goes on'. thats why i said why not get paid for chatting and slacking by being a manager instead of going for knee replacement being a OPG'

Well judging from some of your post you would fill the bill admirably - go for it, I don't think there is a written element..............fortunately.

I think you should keep in mind that the way RM's heading, there will be little job security in being a LM , I would think there will be a cull very soon (justifiably) .
Any married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing.
Managers are having to do more and more delivery work as the rounds get longer and folks are reluctant to perform overtime on busy days so even as a manger you could find yourself out on a walk.
As others have said if your after more of a career change then I would prob look outside RM as the management side of things is looking quite rocky at the moment and I can foresee plenty of job cuts in the coming years.
Personally other than being a temporary manager I would sooner pick up a couple of ½ overtime deliveries a week which would give me the same amount of income.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
To become a LM you have to be a crap postie who cuts corners, makes mistakes, carves the job up, slag your colleagues off, be another managers bitch. If you are all that you should have no trouble getting in.
I agree with what has been said regarding there will be a manager cull soon. We've just lost one to EVR at my office.......many more to follow hopefully!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

couldnt complete walks after coming off driving(P&L)
got a nice cushy indoor duty
now sucked up to deputy
does more delivery now than he could manage before on the walks
