Re: Walk sorted mail
weve had sequenced mail for 12 month or more now,,,,and i dont really see a big diff in ips time,,,,we were lead to believe that all the letters would be walk sorted and basically ips would be flats and any scraps,,,,b4 walk sequenced we used to get between 10 and 20 bundles per day per walk,,,,,you could get 4-6 bundles in a tray,,,,now we get between 2 and 4 trays a day so i dont see that we get more mail sequenced,,,,,,when we look at the ips theres still a heck of a load needs sorting,,,,,we still have a lot of part time walks need preping so most mornings theres only a few bodies on the ips so inreality were still taking between 2 an 3 hours b4 the ips is cleared.

While it no doubts protects jobs, in a day and age where computers are common place, I wonder how long it might be before we see processing depots having the machinery to 100% sequence the letters (as in whole walk arrived ready to go in trays, duty holder just then needs to sort out packets)? Indoor workload would plummit!

Re: Walk sorted mail
I was told that the sequencing machines could only ever cope with WS mail, and the process is WS first then sequence, so you will always have letters for IPS until the WS machines get more efficient.....IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote:While it no doubts protects jobs, in a day and age where computers are common place, I wonder how long it might be before we see processing depots having the machinery to 100% sequence the letters (as in whole walk arrived ready to go in trays, duty holder just then needs to sort out packets)? Cant wait for the computers to take over us, Terminator rules, just you wait, management want this until their jobs are taken, I think the ws is a waste of time we save no time, but what do we know, it keeps them happy, and in a job.
