you wouldnt have races if all people ran ,biked or swam at the same speed. The trouble is you end up falling out with those you work with which makes it an unpleasant experience all round. Why oh why do they have to keep coming up with these stupid ideas!!!!!![]()

Everything is done by the book apart from us not using trolleys as there are blocks of flats on the loopsHitcher wrote:You still haven't told us if you're both doing the job properly or finishing later than your time?
As for finishing later than our time I say sometimes before we're due to go out we'll struggle to complete, and ask what do you what us to do as we only wish to work to our time, and their reply is to ring the office at the earliest time you think your not gonna be able to finish, so I rang up before Christmas and did this and got the reply if we didn't finish or if we brought mail back we'd be suspended. What the f**k? So what happens if my finish time is 14.48 minus our 20 mins break at the end of the duty that makes it 14.28 (walking out of the door going home,) if we have items left to deliver and its 14.10 as we need to be heading back to the office cos it takes 10/15 mins to get back to the office and then you have to sort out your dib's etc should we just bring the mail back? Will we get suspended?

Are you using your own mobile to ring the office? Do you get your costs back?
Should you be using a trolley for some parts?
Do you run round yourself?
Don't take out what you can't deliver?

There are times when we've gone over our time cos the dom has said he thinks we'd be able to complete in the time and sent us out on delivery and completely ignored our problems about finishing on time and they don't pay overtime they just say come in later the next day, but I don't want either I just want to finish on time!

You need to stand up to him or her and not blame your partner on park and loop, easier said than done i must admit!pinkpat wrote:There are times when we've gone over our time cos the dom has said he thinks we'd be able to complete in the time and sent us out on delivery and completely ignored our problems about finishing on time and they don't pay overtime they just say come in later the next day, but I don't want either I just want to finish on time!

Seems to me Pink you're being mugged by your manager.
A rep hasn't been mention here,is there one in the equation. He needs to have words with your managers pronto.

You can do that, they can't force you to flex, again, rep needs words.they just say come in later the next day, but I don't want either I just want to finish on time!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Park & Loop Partner
Just to clarify, are you saying that you are delivering every single loop with "weight on shoulder" instead of using a LWT? How many blocks are there per loop, roughly?pinkpat wrote:Everything is done by the book apart from us not using trolleys as there are blocks of flats on the loopsHitcher wrote:You still haven't told us if you're both doing the job properly or finishing later than your time?
Now admittedly I've yet to have the pleasure of using LWTs and know nothing about the Safe Systems Of Work regarding secure delivery using them, but something does not sound right here, it suggests the planners and/or DOM are pulling a fast one to make the walk more achievable at the expense of your long term health. P&L was supposed to be reducing how much we carry, which may not effect you too much in your 30s, but will certainly be giving you aches and pains in your 50s.
Surely RM protocol does not dictate that you deliver by pouches on your shoulder on a P&L walk?
Shouldn't the loops have been been created so that all flat blocks are delivered by the driver, enabling the other mail to be kept relatively secure in the van, while the non-driver can safely use their LWT while keeping the trolley in line of sight at all times and keeping "weight off the shoulder"?

Re: Park & Loop Partner
Have to agree with the above. Seems your partner may be naturally a slow walker, or coming off a driving duty may need a bit of time to adjust. I realise that's not your problem, but it seems RM are doing with P&L what they have done with FT/PT over the years, trying to cause a divide in the ranks. If you need to hang about waiting on the other bloke then do it, work the hours you're paid for and do no more. If that means you don't complete or are hanging about too long for partner, then it really is management's problem.

Re: Park & Loop Partner
I think the real reason is as stated earlier in the thread 'I have to go and pick my kids up'. It is not his fault that you have family commitments/deadlines etc. Leave the poor sod alone and take a book with you. Or better still...........slow down?

He did in the first post - although it was easy to miss.eastie wrote:He didn't state who was the driver out of the two of them
I think the question here is not if the OP is quick, or if the partner is slow but as long as both go at a reasonable pace then the OP has to lump it unfortunately. In fact the OP states he himself goes at a normal pace, as this is not a recognised unit of measure it would be difficult to quantify, but 1 thing is certain a 32 year old will always in the grand scheme of things walk quicker.so he can drive back to the office,
