Having seen this "offer" from Royal Mail, all I can say is that another one-day strike is the last thing we need. the union should give notice on Monday that the rolling action is to re-start as soon as possible. We cannot accept this attack on our pay, working conditions and pensions.

OK I'm a bit puzzled by this annualised hours thing.

The reason i do this job is because it fits in with family life.At the moment you finish in plenty of time to fetch the kids from school as the wife works as well.With these so called changes +2 hrs over your time i won't make the school in time. School holidays and those inset days are going to be a real problem too,the wife starts work early aftertoon at the moment i finish in time so i can take over from her but now what am i suppose to do.The wife can't just go into work and tell her employer she has got to change her hours because mine are changing.
They say they will make provisions for people with young families but what?It states in this so called AGREEMENT that everyone will be treated the same and there will be no favourites.
I thought there was a new law that came in recently telling employers they had to be family freindly?

Yes there is although its not new (you wouldnt have got that under a tory goverment, but you got it under a labour goverment!)

My new DOM told me today that he will have the 3 firms duties in at 5am still and 3 others in at 5am to put out walk sorted boxes of mail. We currently have a 4.30 am skeleton shift with 7 people. World war 3 will break out when the DOM decides who the 3 will be staying on at 5am. It may not even be any of the current 7 some of whom are on that shift as they couldnt manage the later finishes that came in with 5 day week 3 and a half years ago.

Having seen the offer I just wonder what took five weeks! Personally I would have been out of the door after 5 minutes.

Simple my old friend CWU got the offer towards the end of the 5 weeks. RML have been bluffing the whole time and took the CWU for a ride . Meaningfull talks? Just a cover for the crap they have released.

RM have had their fun with us over the last few weeks. 1 more week and it will be our turn, let`s see how they like it. I just hope our union doesn`t give them a 2nd opportunity to clear the backlog. They`ve had their chance.

Sad thing is I pay these muppets to negotiate for me, the same as a hundred and thirty thousand others, who rely on their negotiating skills. If this is the best I can expect I'd like my money back please!

Of course he did, the front line managers are finally seeing that they'll be expected to follow our shift patterns and "new" ways of working, and guess what they don't like it. Now they know they're just as valued and respected by dumb and dumber as we are.

Yes I heard from a rep that it was an eleventh hour ammendmant...He was mighily pigged off when he found out that we had been so close to a viable agreement and only to have it pulled out and that recent load of cobblers added.
