If the IB were clued up (which they probably aint) they could pull you.eastie wrote:would you get conduct coded if you dont use a L/W trolley ?
But as per your other thread you should use them if they are allocated to the duty you are on.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: watch out watch out the ib are about
Guy at my place got 'councelled' after he left his van unlocked,IB busted him,DOM councelled him. Some of these people have been suspended and conduct coded
But i guess most screws like the power and go for the jugular straight away, and 'some' reps seem to let them get away with it...
Furthermore, Royal Mail does recognise that genuine mistakes and
misunderstandings do occur and it is not the intention of the Business that
such cases should be dealt with under the Conduct Code beyond counselling
for the isolated instance.

Only the security implications of the trolleys matter to IB.eastie wrote:would you get conduct coded if you dont use a L/W trolley ?
If they see one unattended you're in trouble.
What people need to worry about with not using a trolley is the law of averages.
At some point they are going to have a slip,a trip, get bitten by a dog, lose a special or one of a hundred mishaps that come to us all eventually.
The first question in an investigation will be what delivery equipment they were using and they'll be faced with the stark choice of telling the truth and risking possible gross misconduct for deliberate disregard of H&S or telling a lie and risking definite gross misconduct for dishonesty and deliberate disregard of H&S.
It's a time bomb....tick,tock,tick,tock...boom.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: watch out watch out the ib are about
my walk is very quiet and I probably see only about 10 cars all day, and about the same amount of people walking so if a stranger is watching me I would phone the police as I would feel threatend by them being there.
would be worth it for sh***s and giggles to get the ib busted by the old bill

We were told to carry pouches instead of using the LWT while the pavements were covered with ice and snow.eastie wrote:would you get conduct coded if you dont use a L/W trolley ?
I can't carry the weight so i carried on using the trolly whenever i could, but it was tough pushing it through the ice.

Re: watch out watch out the ib are about
You should'nt be carrying a heavy pouch. 7/8kg max if not able to use trolley. Managers should of told you that before bagging up!analogsynthman wrote:We were told to carry pouches instead of using the LWT while the pavements were covered with ice and snow.eastie wrote:would you get conduct coded if you dont use a L/W trolley ?

I still can't understand how you can't leave stuff on a bike but in a P&L it's all OK.

Well as most P&L is in a vehicle and the LWT should not be out of sight the biggest difference is the security of the vehicle.Hitcher wrote:I still can't understand how you can't leave stuff on a bike but in a P&L it's all OK.
If its a post P&L HCT delivery then it should have been checked to make sure that it suitable and the security levels are appropriate. Again in that case in high risk areas it should not be left out of sight for longer than a few minutes and even in low risk for 10 minutes I think. The HCT should also NOT be used as a mobile Safe Drop either.
We all know that managers though ignore these rules until a Postie is caught, and then all of a sudden it becomes the most important thing for a few weeks.
Moral of this post is make sure you know the rules better than managers and you follow them, because as sure as eggs are eggs you will be the sacrificial lamb if you don't and the manager has a choice, they will send you down the river quicker than a cork log with an outboard motor.

Of the last 4 in my office that have had their collars felt all had just finished throwing off the walk OR where in the process of leaving for delivery.Red Robbo wrote:It makes you laugh the ib wait til the target has finished their duty and then they pick them up, to do it before would leave us short staffed, very considerate of them
Then they have to do the 'walk of shame' in front of the whole office flanked by IB never to be seen again. Last person was a bit of a shock but on the whole 99.99% of people just want to see the back of them as it makes EVERYONE an object of suspicion and also the public don't discriminate.... its all posties are a bunch of thieves! :(

Re: watch out watch out the ib are about
L/W trolleys by thier nature are less safe (for mail security) than bag over the shoulder. I dont know the 'official' line but when I use it, I leave it at the end of driveways and this seems to be accepted, but if I was carrying a bag and left it at the end it would be
I know trolleys should be used, but when theres say one or two small packets and only 3 bundles of mail... I think over shoulder is a more sensible option? It's certainly less cumbersome, quicker and easier. Emphasis on the easier, I'm not running round like a mental and I don't care about the time aspects.

If it's the ones who were in Portsmouth last week, look out for a pair of 8th-rate nightclub bouncers.Darren Bent wrote:and how do we identify who is IB ?
