So does stage 3 always mean dismissal?
No, not if you can argue that it shouldn't.

ok thanks.......mate of mine at another office has reached stage 3.......no long term absences, just days here and there

You need a really good area rep to get you off and TBH it's easier if you have a long absence because they're easier to understand than a lot of short absences.

Im guessing Plantar Fasciitis?
suffer from it myself
not fun
however bear in mind you should be looking out for yourself
if that means paying out for footwear, then so be it
not right but needs must

As said. I would argue on RMs responsibility and time taken to provide footwear

You need to be very careful here, the official line is that if a medical condition precludes you from wearing the provided footwear, then ATOS will recommend an 'approved' alternative for your particular condition. That alternative will either be provided for you or payment towards the cost of such. Any non approved footwear will be in breach of H&S and as such could carry a gross misconduct charge.

My expectation however for this condition is that ATOS would approve only pre or specially made orthotics to be used with the existing range of RM footwear.

Yes your right my friend because I had a cortisone injection as a quick fix so I didnt have more time off but I'm annoyed my bosses didn't ask me in on light duties while I was off . my manager is a stickler for his staff to wear rm footwear so I put orthiotic insoles into my old boots and it's eased the pain , at the time of my injury rm boss didn't seem to care and on my back to work form my union rep as stated he should have investigated it more through atos ,

maybe you could tell us all of the absenances that got you to stage two..?

To clarify for the bright sparks that seem very slow at assimilating information as It clearly had nothing to do with your footware.

i am truely sorry you have been dismissed in the current climate but i am a great beliver in personal responsability..

if you swung the lead to a stage 2 then get caught out with a real illness/injury then i have little sympathy.

how did your shoes give you this problem..as we must know the most unnatural state of shoes is brand new,as you wear them they get worn into your perfect gait.so unless you slipped i fail to see your complaint

seems like anyone with a potentially long term problem is being sacked.

im fuming the head office cwu didnt take my case up and imo this is fuelling such instances because rm know the union are not fighting the member's corner on such issues.

ive been sacked with an ongoing knee problem which they have turned into willfull delay.

Maybe Bitchface your an indoor worker , you need to wise up fella because it could be you tomorrow who's getting dismissed unfairly and I for one hope you do with your childish remarks . Rm are issuing stage warnings for any illnesses serious and not serious so wheres the fairness in that , you will one day be I'll and let's hope for yourself it's not serious , obviously you don't understand planta facilitiesand I'm not going to educate you , if rm knew I had a problem they should have offered me light duties and investigated my injury , it's no different to you my friend slipping over on some ice they would investigate that accident , my gp said it's wear and tear through my job and that's good enough for me over an I'll educated man

What are you waffling on about now?
Are you telling us your shoes wear down to a "perfect gate" whatever that is and then stop wearing?
Have you got magic shoes bitchface?

bit different working indoors or having to do a delivery with a foot problem
doing a delivery with Plantar F. is no fun and at times simply not possible

I've worked 6 days a week for the last 3 years for rm working my day and o.t in the week , this means absolutely nothing in my case because they dismissed anyway , when I started in rm union was strong and now the roles are reversed which is a worry to all cwu memmbers. Union isn't protecting it's work force where I work it's 100% union now the members are becoming frustrated with the union that 50% want to come out of the union , this is what rm want one area rep was overheard saying f**k the union and were supposed to be working with these people , as soon as eople realise rm don't give a damn about it's workforce the stronger the union will become , I've been treated unfairly not only in my eyes but my managers also , me today could be you tomorrow so my advice would be to watch your backs because they want to get rid off fulltimers and take on part timers and they will , don't be fooled by the rm propaganda colleagues

To answer your questions Bitchface I've had 6 absences in the last 3and half years being off twice with planta f totalling 11 days .,so I've had another 4 absences totalling 23 which were transient illnesses , my point Is if rm investigated properly my foot injury and was offered light duties than those two absences wouldn't have incurred and I wouldn't have been dismissed if you cant see that's unfair than I think you must be a rm puppy dog , rm need to be proactive and not reactive in my experience they react to problems and are not proactive , like I said my boots were on order and I was wearing rm boots what had worn down on the heels , in WTl the staff was always told you must wear issued footwear which I did , its not my fault in the lateness of my new boots arriving and I abided by rm standards on footwear please tell me what you would have done differently
