Winnipeg - Canada's postal system has stopped delivering mail to a home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a mail carrier was scared away by a "very threatening cat", said the Winnipeg Free Press on Friday.
A Canada Post spokesperson said the agency was concerned about the safety of its carriers, although it hoped for an amicable solution to its dispute with cat-owner John Samborski.
"The letter carrier who delivers mail there was brought up on a farm, she is very comfortable with animals," said spokesperson Kathi Neal.
"Apparently this is a very threatening cat."
Samborski said Shadow, his eight-year-old, declawed black cat is docile, and it was "ridiculous" for Canada Post to make him to pick up his mail from a post office instead of delivering it to his door.
Shadow "likes to eat and sleep and cuddle. You could drop a bomb and he'd just open one eye, take a look, then close them and go back to sleep," said Samborski, 41.

I got clawed by one once when I first started. Put my hand in letter box but mail hit something and bent up like it does. Me being a newbie and really keen took the mail out and put my whole hand through and the cat got my finger. Bled for ages, and as I didn't know anything did not report it or try for a bit of sick through shock.

got me as well once, had a packet just a bit to big for the box, and was trying to ram it through,it suddenly went through and i went foreward with it and my right hand went through the box, suddenly pain shot through 1 of my fingers and as i pulled it back there was a great big and deep cut which bled like a stuck pig for ages
