Today I received a phonecall from an unknown number claiming to be Angard. Thankfully Angard have already paid me for my Christmas temp shifts but I got a payslip telling me I was due to receive a small amount of holiday pay last Saturday.
The man on the phone (who spoke virtually no English) asked me for my bank details as a payment into my account had been rejected. This had 'phishing scam' written all over it so I obviously refused them the details.
But it is true that there is a payment which hadn't gone through. So it seems that either:
- Angard have had a serious data security breach, or -
- Angard consider it normal practice to call people, withhold their number and ask for bank details over the phone.
I've been in touch with the Fraud Dept at the bank and they advised to contact Trading Standards if it was Angard, otherwise report it as fraud. If Angard don't get back quickly, I may have to do both to be sure....
Has anyone else had this?
Andy

Re: Angard Phishing Scam?
No but you could have asked them for some proof of who they are, like a contact number to call them straight back, or to tell you any info that they had on you, like first line of address or postcode etc.
I've just had a similar call from ATOS, who proceeded to tell me my National Insurance number, which I thought was a wee bit too personal to be given over the phone, especially as they didn't know who I was.

Re: Angard Phishing Scam?
At the start of my contract with Angard (November) when they called me their telephone number appeared. Once we got to December they always called with Unknown number - this was from when they had the press button functionality added to their telephone. A substantial number of businesses will keep their telephones unknown to the recipient of the call - not just Angard.
This doesnt help in your situation - I would call Angard on one of the known numbers and contact payroll to find out if they had contacted you - they should have a record of all communications made with you.

There are many reports on here of Angard legitimately phoning you guys up because they have lost bank account details.- Angard consider it normal practice to call people, withhold their number and ask for bank details over the phone.
Yes,they are that f***ing useless.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Angard Phishing Scam?
Thanks for your help.
I somehow managed to get through to them this morning, on the 0845 number, was told they would check who called me.
