Re: Angard and JSA Advice
I would certainly not get myself sacked,as the Jobcentre check with your last employer and when they find you are sacked you will be instantly sanctioned so you wont recieve a penny for six months. I know someone who lived in an unemployment blackspot and worked on a building site three hours from home and as his car was on the way out, he found a a job on a site a lot closer to home through a mate . He gave notice but the day he went to start his new job his job fell through. He tried to get his old job back but it had already gone. Fortunatly he managed to get a job in an electronics factory, unfortunatly he didn't tell them he had left his job and the circumstances, they then checked found he had left and sacked him. After which he tried to get JSA but they refused to give it to him as they checked with his last employer the electronics factoy who told him he had been sacked. The whole thing was beyond a joke.Nina88 wrote:Ok sorry on a serious note though you can go about it in the above mentioned way. I actually do it that way during the summer months when I'm doing festival work. There are ways and means to do these thing and keeping your credibility. I'd be doubtful of getting any work references from them though

It's up to you try it and see but I would advice against it, my advice is good as they now check with your last employer and if they find you left "volunterily" even for the reasons I stated which seem reasonable to me you will be sanctioned. I don't know anybody who has got away with it in the last few years.Because this is a major way they make budget savings. In exactly the same way seasonal workers whose christmas jobs end when the jobcentre is closed for the Christmas Holidays and made the claim the first morning the jobcentre was open again still always get their back dating claim refused, they then have to challenge it to get their money backdated,. It never goes in reality goes as far as a real appeal because that would cost too much and the jobcentre would lose, instead the jobcentre always roll over and backdate your claim if you haven't delayed since they reopend. This trick saves them a fortune as only about 1 in 3 jobseekers is prepared to fight the initial refusal.

Sacked is the very worst thing, in that case when the jobcentre now check with your last employer you will get sanctioned and no chance of JSA for up to 6 months. Your only hope would be if you could prove you were not sacked but unfairly dissmissed!!! Under NO circumstances get yourself sacked if you want JSA as you will have no chance of getting it. instead you will get a sanction.hantsman wrote:jaym wrote:"Your not instantly sanctioned you are just scare mongering!

Most people were only taken on temporarily - receiving your P45 as a Christmas casual is not considered getting sacked. It is what it says in the tin - a temporary engagement of work for a short duration over the Christmas period.

If thats the case that's completion of contract, put that down it's the truth, and when the Jobcentre check they will not have a problem and you will get JSA. But if you get yourself sacked to end the job, or leave when they still have work for you then when the jobcentre check it would be an automatic sanction, that's why I advise against doing either of those two.Verging wrote:Most people were only taken on temporarily - receiving your P45 as a Christmas casual is not considered getting sacked. Does it change if you are up front. The reason I ask is that the last job I had was as a phone drone in a call centre, I got fed up of it and handed my notice in. Worked my notice then went to Job Centre and coughed to everything - they only refused me JSA for 6 weeks. As I was expecting 6 months I had already made sure I had finances in place so I did not struggle. Luckily I got a temp job before the 6 weeks was up anyway.jaym wrote:If thats the case that's completion of contract, put that down it's the truth, and when the Jobcentre check they will not have a problem and you will get JSA. Just to clarify this was 8 years ago so the rules have probably changed.

I have had a lot of experience with the DWP in the last 2 years in fact i knew better than them 99% of the time.
No doubt they can instant sanction but dont say its an automatic process cos its not.

I'm not sure either as I think the Sanctions increase with severity depending on weather you have been sanctioned before or not? I had also heard something about a 3 strikes and your out policy but I don't know if they brought it in? There are ways to get round sanctions for some groups but I am again unsure of exact details because as you rightly say the rules seem to constantly change. I have heard that if you are a couple with kids you can get your partner to make the claim in her name, if it was you who got sacked? But I'm not sure on this, All I know is as i previously stated If you jack in a job where there was still work for you, or you get yourself sacked then from the moment thery check with your employer its an automatic sanction but I cant tell you the duration? maybe its dependant on your previous record? I would not take this as gospal and would advise anyone thinking about jacking in their job or getting themselves sacked and then trying to claim JSA to check with CAB before doing it to find out the score.

Re: Angard and JSA Advice
So you know recent cases where someone told the Jobcentre they had got sacked? And their last employer confirmed this? or they walked out of their job and told the jobcentre this And their last employer confirmed this? And the jobcentre said thats OK and waved the automatic sanctions? I find that impossible to believe (Unless as I stated earlier you could prove these were cases of unfair dismisal etc which is something you are not saying they were).hantsman wrote:jaym wrote:hantsman

This work with RM is not permanent full time, we have had cases on here already where people just walked out never to return, not being paid was one reason, badly treated another reason, Jobcentres didnt sanction them.
The goverment are really getting tighter on this but you can appeal and many have it upheld in the claiments favour.

Re: Angard and JSA Advice
Year round Angard contract are rarely any sort of full time. I know of one worker who got one shift in six months.
Incidentally no-one can be sanctioned for turning down a part time job unless directed to it by the jobcentre.
