The point about the "sweetheart" post was not that it was overtly sexist.
The point was that if you're going to be over sensitive about what other people post you should use the same criteria when posting yourself.

Just think everyone is needing some chill pills and get back onto the original topic
My Mum used to work in a shop about 20 years ago and called this woman "love" (not maliciously) who then muttered under her breath "I am NOT your love!", to which my Mum replied "No, you're not are you?!". There used to be one guy on my walk that called me babe, and the only reason I didn't like it was because the was he said it made me feel like I needed to take a shower afterwards <shudders> Creepy guy.

Calling someone a name as a term of endearment is different than writing it down, it can look very sarcastic and aggressive when written, I personally use love, dear, pet and honey but only verbally because of how I think it looks when written.

Now Teefeer love, how badly do you think the Wales team are going to get beaten in the 6 nations :hmmmm

Off now to buy a helmet and pray that I can hide until Teefeer calms down :nervous

It's all about context.
If you use a "term of endearment" in the middle of an argument it's context changes.

Oh I agree but I think he's calmed down (and who of us hasn't gone into one about something or other on here), personally MD is much more annoying and more likely to cause offence by his provocative posts than MOC and his angry posts.

Anyway, I really need to get back to my sarcastic posts before people think I'm going soft

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Apologies to Bexhil Palace and Stormproof, I missed the Ide connection with the original post.

My wife once played a girl at pool in the pub and beat her. The girl kept saying that she would have won if she hadn't had potted the black and my missus, who is more aggressive than me, said, "Listen, sweetheart. You did pot the black and that's why you lost," and the girl shut up after that. I was quite impressed at the time.

When I have a fight, Militantdave jumps in on my side and he comes up with good sayings like,

"would not suprise me if it was true...thats real democracy in a union....hang on let me watch orson wells animal farm again" :funneh

He may get Orson Welles and George Orwell confused but he doesn't defend the CWU when the CWU is wrong.

RMG, the CMA and the CWU together have created an oppressive neo-primitive culture where no two people in the permanent worker caste are equal because everyone is ranked according to seniority. If a worker shows signs of above average capability they are simply cajoled into doing more work so that the seniors can do less or they are trained on a higher grade task but have to do it at the lower grade pay unless they want to return to less interesting tasks. As there are no promotion opportunities, there is no escape from the caste and all those more senior than you will always be more senior than you:

well atleast i did not get it confussed with HG WELLS or we could have caused wide spread panic.

Our union ,imho is morally bankrupt from floor to ceiling. That it is the best we have is the only good thing i can say about it.Sure there are some good reps ,unfortunatly ,and very obviously , they are completly outweighted by the number of bad rep who think no more than to look after number one and who think we are all number two's.But by far the worst are those at the top who run this union like a business for profit.there only concern is the balance sheet. After all they want their interest free loans to buy houses and become landlords.

Just look at the way part timers have there money taken then get screwed from both directions.delivery supplement,no roling days off pro roto bonuses.they are second class citizens to royal mail and the union.

Same old same old mish-mash of slewed ideas, daft concepts and self-invented words, and all based on the "why is it always poor little me?" principle.
You could always stop moaning about the status quo (and your perceived poor part of it) and try and get a job in the Real World....
