MOC is in a strop because he can't run as an area rep and so can't understand why people aren't as angry as he is about it, SP used smilies in a post and he took umbrage at that and it all took off from there.

As for MD he's been most active on this thread since it's gone off topic (11 post since he joined) so he's either someones alter ego or just someone who likes to stick his nose in when he sees an argument in the hope he'll get some enjoyment out of it.
I'm lost,re read the thread a few times and still can't see why Storm had to be jumped on,her post had nothing to do with MOC,and not sure why the other 2 have jumped in,is it a club or something.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I re read it thinking I'd missed something, hence why I couldn't see where the mockery and poor manners remarks came from. Sweetheart, however, should only be used as a term of endearment between lovers. If being used between people who don't know one another, it tends to take on a derogatory manner.

DGP is right but my strop was provoked by BP's grandparents comment that implied that my story about management, a union rep and seniors collaborating to force juniors to cover other duties so that the seniors could benefit from extra annual leave slots was uninteresting. Storm joining in and 'coffeecupping' me was the last straw. It's a much worse insult than 'sweetheart' because it is a group insult that says 'you are not one of us' and confirms that, even if the members want it, entry to the CWU inner circle club is by invitation only.

It may also have been something to do with Jonathan Meade's program on France last Wednesday. I watched it again over the weekend and it made me think. There is a great bit when he compares British society to French society:

"In Britain, what is recklessly celebrated as cultural diversity is actually a form of cultural apartheid which starts early at sectarian schools and faith schools. People are defined by the religious or ethnic or linguistic group they are born into. Identity is determined by the community rather than by the individual.

Cultural diversity inhibits social mobility, it stalls economic improvement, it fractures society. It's a barrier to self invention. It sets the status quo in stone:

YOU KNOW YOUR PLACE.

You're conscious of your roots, your precious roots but roots are for vegetables. The British seem unable to understand that a human's roots are actually a human's shackles. They bear you back into the past. There is no escape from your ancestors, their mores are yours, their rites and superstitions are yours. This kind of separate development that confines people to their communitarian pigeon hole has been a fetish of Anglo-Saxon liberal policy for half a century even though it is patently illiberal.

Multi-culturalism doesn't leave much room for aspiration. The mutation that is allowed to the British caterpillar is denied to British humans. It militates against individual equality by granting paramountcy to community rather than to the person."

Stormproof "coffeecupped" you after you'd already gone off the deep end about her being rude and arrogant. She had replied to Bexhill's post about grandparent's being in Ide and then made reference to the new smilies. She used the "cuppa" smiley after stating that if you found her rude and arrogant (for whatever reasons-they are still unclear to me) you could always block her.

I think your red mist is clouding your vision and judgement.

I think you're all being a mental jumping on each other with insults. You're all in the sht together, stand together. RM will throw as much of the brown stuff at all of you just to see how much of it sticks.

And if any of you find that insulting, then tough titties! And they are my titties so I'm allowed to say that!!

The union have done a lot of things we don't like. But all in all, they are there (most of the time) when we need them.

Don't think there was truth in the original story that it was the union that forced chappie off his walk. But hey ho, P&L gets to you all. If you feel the red mist coming down, step away from the keyboard, it's not worth it.

In a previous post I did state that we are all in this shite. I don't know how MoC managed to misconstrued my post and I still believe I did'nt insult anyone.

I'm not jumping on anyone, just trying to clarify the situation because I don't like to see what I feel is injustice and bigotry. 2 things I can't stand.

And I'm not in it together with anyone either :chuckle but that doesn't mean I can't empathise with how people are feeling or give them my support, which I do.

Why are you two being so rude?

The Union messed up in my unit. I'm told that the National Discipline Committee has banned the 'collaborator' rep from holding any Union office for life. Rotation in my section will corner this wolf and management will have to dispatch him.

Why would you have a problem with letting everyone know about this unless you are the same?

What have you done and who have you stitched up?

Will your victims ask someone like me to hunt you down?
These are the "offending" posts and I am sorry but I believe it was an overreaction on MOcs part and I am uncertain as to why Militant Dave joined in, hopefully he saw the funny side and just wanted to stir things.

MoC thought Bexhill was taking the piss, I don't think he was, I think he was having a laugh or starting a bit of banter - If MoC recalls Ide was mentioned in the original article so technically it was not off topic. Stormproof enjoyed the joke and used the new smilies to indicate that. There was no hidden message, there was not attempt to denigrate MoC posts, or to change the subject. If anything it was a typical thread that was taken perhaps slighting off track by a gentle joke, it happens on RMC and long may it continue.

Who judges what is pointless drivel?
I find most of your posts are pointless drivel but that's my opinion and i still respect your right to add them.
Most of the time i just choose not to read them.

SP and TT. Was just taking the proverbial out of people's over reactions on both sides.

Having a go at someone for using new emoticons... well.. GAL please

As from post 4 (5) at a push, the rest has nothing to do with the original post. Apart from the joke one in the middle that caused all the offence :left:

Do wimminz really take offence at people calling them sweetheart? I call everyone love or honey or hen or son..... but that's usually just cos I forget everyone's name.

Just think everyone is needing some chill pills and get back onto the original topic
