(now the equalties act 2010)

your illness that you are suffering from is discounted from the attendance (sickness procedure)

you are covered by a term called protected characteristics and if your employer ignores this then they can be prosecuted and an instant result as case proved in an employment tribunal claim.

your employer has to give you every opportunity to assist you in making reasonable adjustments.

if the employer states there are no duties etc then they have to justify that statement.

being an opg is not the same as a postman so all opportunities need to be explored including relocating to an office near to you with adaquate duties to fit your condition

what your rep have to say on this

you realy need to be talking to the legal and medical secretary or area safety rep on this as your office rep will prob only have limited knowledge on this matter

being sick is not a disease
it is a symptom of the job
There is only the one grade now.

can you be so kind as to expand on that

what about special;ist duties, (opgs)
do they exist anymore
what about a resign then on opgs

many thanks

OPG is Ordinary Postal Grade as I understand it - that doesn't mean that there aren't different duties within that grade only that it is a catch all for men or women employed in Royal Mail. The grade was introduced when the PHG title was incorporated.

they tried exactly what you stated above with myself until i printed off an ET1 claim and shoved it under their noses

they ended up seing sense and realised i was not worth the trouble

sack under the attendance procedure, realy

DDA -protected characteristics-THEY CAN TRY

I have been going through theself same thing dom wants me out and used Atos to try to move me to a mail centre even though he knew I could not do the hours or IHR which I proved to Atos I was more then calpable of doing a delivery but with adjusted route.

The dom and lino spat there dummys out even tried to get a signed agreement overturned :d'oh!
Anyway next week I have a 3hr indoor atos assement and managers have 7 days notice in which to change my duty :pray

Rm were basically told that if they did not implement the change then a grievence would go in also Head office equality department have been told of what has been happening to me because I come under DDA due to accident on duty.

I know of 3 folks in my office in the last 4 months have been outed by RM with 15yrs + service.

Thanks that made me giggle :Very Happy

Have to say speaking to my area rep over the last couple of days ... i have found that i ask questions and get replies that are of no relevance to what i asked sadly. I dont know if this is down to him not knowing or being not overly keen to get involved and rock the boat ... time will tell i suppose though ...

Why does this not surprise me!  :speak to the hand
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.
