Re: 3.5% unlikely!
As I recall there was only two criteria as to whether the 3.5 was to be revisited. One was the RPI and the other the financial state of the company - I don't recall the EU being part of the equation but lo and behold when it comes to it suddenly there is a third elelment. I think the 3.5 will probably be paid BUT I think it will form part of the negotiations for further future pay deals which will be kept to a minimum on the strength of the 3.5% - for which we have already paid the price.
As for dingo posting his views as he sees them - fair enough he does state facts as they effect his area BUT that is nowhere near the norm - he wouldn't last 5 minutes in an area with half the workforce part time and 40% not even members of the union because the management know they have the upper hand. He does have a valid point in that many people do not become involved in union affairs and that in part means we get what we deserve.

I think you're right.dvbuk55 wrote:I think the 3.5 will probably be paid BUT I think it will form part of the negotiations for further future pay deals which will be kept to a minimum on the strength of the 3.5% - for which we have already paid the price.
I think the 3.5% would only really have been in doubt if privatisation was imminent but the whole EU/State Aid thing will be used to tie down any pay deal agreed for 2013 onwards.
Perhaps the paving of the way has already started for low expectation and even lower realisation.
One thing is for sure...a three year deal with the bulk in the final year should not even be discussed.
There are far too many unknowns around the corner to risk playing that idiotic game again.

It's kind of sad that this thread has been dragged down to a personal level and more or less killed off.

Re: 3.5% unlikely!
Well they'll be singing the same song twice..........come to think of it, it'll be the same old refrain - "didn't we done good" - considering the 3.5% will be woefully much less than the colleague share we DIDN'T get which WAS trumpeted as part of the reward for BT2010 - the reply would be NO because it is less than RPI and should be more. As for the fight? That was over and done with in two days which culminated in the Deal of the Century................yes I know but I couldn't resist.DGP1 wrote:fishtank wrote:It's kind of sad that this thread has been dragged down to a personal level and more or less killed off.haven't really seen any personal attacks (unless you class dingos inference that we live in a fantasy world
). But none the less, if we get the 3.5% then the union will be singing about how good they are.............and if we don't get it then we'll get the blame for not fighting hard enough.
What do people think would be a fair settlement bearing in mind the increases in the cost of living - take petrol for e.g. it went up at my garage by 2p a litre overnight, gas and elecric by god knows how much, food prices??????? our grocery bill looks like I'm running a guest house.
So how much should we be getting?

I think if there were Teebs would have got his green pen out but somehow the focus of the thread was changed from debating the issues to dingo himself.
It's all rather strange.
The fact is the 3.5% was promised in the agreement.
It was even said as an added selling point that it could be negotiated upwards if RPI was above the threshold which it is.
Despite the fact that certain members pointed to the "Plan On Track" clause when the agreement was first released that was swept aside as unimportant.
It know looks as if Royal Mail are using this clause to counter the RPI clause which means there was never any chance of getting more than 3.5% because "Plan On Track" can mean anything so again we were "miss-sold".
It also looks like Royal Mail will use the State Aid issue as they did the pension issue to hold down future pay rises.
Personally i'm tired of hearing excuses why we are getting less than we deserve...no matter the source.

Re: 3.5% unlikely!
Me too, also fed up with the lack of communication (without this site we'd know next to nothing) and fed up with the blame being apportioned to the members............of course those at the top still think that everything is the way it was many years ago (mainly FTers and duties that would barely take 2 hours) without realising that things have changed out of all proportion except for the full time release reps.fishtank wrote: Personally i'm tired of hearing excuses why we are getting less than we deserve...no matter the source.
I personally don't mind bad news but I do get upset when I either blamed on things beyond my control or I get told that the turd that is being offered to me is really a gold nugget.
