Good afternoon Leonie
Thank you for your email to Moya Greene – as part of Moya’s senior team she has asked me to reply.
Royal Mail's Christmas recruits played an important role in the success of Royal Mail's Christmas operation, which handled around two billion Christmas cards, letters, packets and parcels. Royal Mail is very grateful to the almost 20,000 temporary recruits who joined its regular staff to ensure the nation's festive mailbag was delivered. Mark Higson, Royal Mail's Managing Director for Operations and Modernisation, wrote to temporary recruits earlier this month to thank them for their hard work and the important contribution they made.
"Royal Mail's Christmas recruitment campaign is the biggest seasonal operation of its kind in the employment world. The company has been looking carefully at the operation of its 2011 recruitment campaign. It is resolved to ensure it does everything possible to streamline its internal processes to avoid next Christmas any repetition of the problems which affected some of its Christmas recruits this past festive season."
After making enquiries myself, I understand that you did obtain recruitment with us, albeit after severe inconvenience to yourself. The situation you describe clearly is less than acceptable and I cannot begin to apologise enough for the frustration and concern I am sure you have been caused. Whilst I appreciate it will be of little consolation to you, I can assure you that these issues continue to be investigated thoroughly with our supplier – Angard.
Thank you again for sharing your experience and for allowing me the opportunity to apologies on behalf of Royal Mail.
Regards
Jane
