I didn't.
We usually started our first delivery around 0645-0730(bad day) finished around 0930 -1000(bad day) and then back to the office for break...then you either did a second or sorted ASAP until your finish time....11.48 iirc.
You have to remember we worked 6 days then.
Saturday was your only guaranteed early finish....O.O.T.G....once over the ground...home for 0900. :whistle
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Interesting to see that packets and parcels weren't mentioned.............don't suppose they had much shopping on internet in 1976?

Besides all that crap, I'd like to big up my chemo nurse Eileen who was on the left hand side of the front page. She's a legend :Very Happy

When I joined I believe there was about 65 postmen for our office and that number didn't go up for a number of years well into the 90s, so if the mail has fallen by such a huge amount why is it taking 100 MORE postmen to deliver less mail with more vehicles, trolleys, css machines, planners, managers et al ..........it must be down to such wonderful management that it is now taking one and a half times more staff and god knows how much more in equipment to do even less work.

I would rather go back to the good old days of 6 day weeks and be finished at a reasonable hour than the shite we have to put up with now

Just looking back a decade or so there must be almost half our office who haven't worked the six days we used to do.
