NO HELP FROM MANAGEMENT

I am a collection driver in london and working for royal mail for 10 years.Last month I had a problem with one collection point .I went to collect mail from this particular place the receptionist always ignore me and I had to wait every day just to get in to the place. Even though they have a bell she never open the door and I had to knock on the door to get in.

This particular day I went in and looked for the mail nothing was there and I was late when I went in there any way .She said can I wait 5 minutes I said yes then she changed her mind and said 10 minutes I said cant wait as I had to go to other places .She started to abuse me by calling me all sort of thing and call my office complained that I swore at her and I being suspended for three weeks without any wrong doing and the manager threatened me of sacking I went through hell during this time .Now they given me 2 year suspended warning in my file.I am really disappointed that they believed the customer even though they lied all the way and given me warning.

I have to say my union rep was brilliant that he saved my job and the manager tried all sort of questioning and bargaining just to find me guilty.

I just want to share my experience with fellow members and want to know is anyone else suffered from this sort of management complaining .

yes, i suffered the same thing, i was sacked when they accused me of abusing, two members of the public, the union went mad, the appeals manager was shall i say quite contrite, the manager involved never suffered anything!!! nothing changes!!, since then 2 customers have falsely accused me of being aggressive/verbals, wish i could prove they were lying, but always report it to your dom!!!

and yes, i got a two year suspended, might suggest to the union, we should take a customer to court fot slander/defamation, if only to highlight what goes on with the public, but it would be difficult to prove!!!

Sorry your first post is such a sad tale.

Sadly RM always side with the customer and especially a business customer.

Back in 2000 when I was on a firms delivery I had a receptionist in a large user company who would not open the security door if she was on the phone. She only had to lean over and press a switch. If you managed to get in she would then not sign for anything until she had finished a phone call and often she would have a couple of calls waiting.

So you stood there like a lemon every day.
In the end I got fed up, and walked past her into one of the partners offices to get some reg’s signed. Obviously they asked why the receptionist had not signed and I said she was too busy. They next day she was waiting for me and had a right go saying I had no right to walk past her and get things signed. I had a moan back but did not loose it or swear.

She phoned up and said I was abusive and had sworn at her (total lie) and despite me submitting a written version of the advent I got a 1 year suspended warning.
