Hello there.
I left RM as a casual in September last year at the Peterborough mail centre. I have a new job lined up which involves getting a reference from my previous employer ie RM. Problem is due to working night shifts there's nobody at the front desk for my prospective new employers to gain said reference from a night shift manager. I did have down the head of operations at the mail centre but he has apparently left since...
Any tips/help on what I can do? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Will move this to the MC forum, maybe one of them can help.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think all references are handled by an office in Bristol, I don't think line managers are allowed to give references

That is from a 'senior account manager'.

One would presume that IF Angard can't help, they'd pass it on to Peterborough.....
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

I should add that I never worked a shift under Angard, walked out the moment they put me onto that contract and the derisory pay.
What do the people in Bristol do in regards to references?

Right, after supplying my prospective employer with that Angard email they've been in touch to say they've had absolutely nothing from them. What can I do to speed this up? It's becoming a real hassle right now in obtaining a second interview.
