Working untill your time

Post by johnnyp »

Never had a problem with it myself, trouble is it dont happen. Are we now saying that this is what the union should be preaching in all offices and how do we think it will go down with the membership. From my own experience not very well,i bet in most offices more staff come in before there start time then those that start on time.WHY DO THEY DO IT,BECAUSE OF JOB AND FINISH.The union cant win when it comes to this and thats why they have always turnt a blind eye, keeps the boys and girls happy ,job gets done ,lovely jubley. Now a different ball game ,management know the score and if we are honest so do we,the bottom line we provide a service ,we deliver letters,we go home early, its about getting the balance right so everyones happy ,with the gap between the union and royal mail getting bigger and bigger im not very optimistic at all that things will get sorted. The way i see it jobs will go ,that you can not prevent as automation takes effect, competition will hit us big time once they start deliverys our customers WILL then have an alternative maybe 2 or 3 who knows its a big market out there and thats when it will really hit home that our jobs are really under threat.Would a trimmer, BETTER PAID
more productive work force be the answer,YES i think it will.Money is there for vrs, people want to go c.w.u. and royal mail sit down sort it out and move the business forward and make us the best mail company in the world ,like we used to be.

  Here's a little goodnight story for all the sleepy Postie Girls and Boys. Once upon a time , that well known people's person BIG AL, was employed to do what he does best, which is to move into a company AND SORT IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As BIG AL insists his employees are well motivated and happy. He knows they will come into work each day with a big smile on their faces, just as soon as he has got to grip with things and made all the Pink fluffy changes neccessary to bring this happy scenario about, his ASDA WALMART successes will ensure ROYAL MAIL and its sceptical workforce will soon have the benign   look of happy little workers :evil/mad :evil/madWHAT WENTImage WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :funneh :funneh KWACKERSImage

I think the job and knock culture was what made the job,we had(still have) low pay but that was supplimented if you like by going home early, and not working your full hours.
Now as we know things are completely different and we are in a serious and shitty state.
So we have to change our attitude.
Now we have the 'Burslem effect' the on the Vans way,and i had a taste of it on Friday and i liked it.
The way things went on Friday and probably for a while now is,i was more chilled,i didn't need to rush, and there was more of a laugh in the office.
Yes i worked to my time but there was no rushing and faffing about,no over weight bags and no panicking and i took more care in the job.
Doing things this way will make it harder to cut jobs as the regulator and Postwatch will not have what is happening now with very late or a day late deliverys.
RM will have to change their attitude as well, automation will cost some jobs that's obvious but not as many as it should if we ALL work together.
Going on the vans imo is not Industrial action as i do that now anyway,it's the select MANY who dont who have screwed it for us all.
If EVERY ONE stopped giving RM freebies then we wouldn't be able to have a leaner better payed workforce as they wouldn't be able to have mass job cuts.
But you could have better productivity as the race and chase and "bollox to doing it properly" malarkey would stop.
But as in true RM fashion the pound note is what it's all about.

Can the competition match us postman to postman,i wouldn't of thought they could, with the pay they would be given, the training the part time the short term contracts and s**t like that, would the workers care the way some of us do with the job.
You only have to look at some of the casual shite we use to use to see that, would the public constantly put up with that!
Businesses would be flocking back to us.

I think the crux of it is to do the job properly, get productivity up,stop the racing and chasing, and work till your time.
We're never gonna be massively payed,we'll be lucky to get anywhere near the national average.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

if we get one off bonuses we are going to reach the minimum wage very shortly,we also get robbed twice as our pension contributions go down in real terms as well.
2.5% doesnt cover the retail price index which is hovering under 5%.(the real inflation figure).

why should we be made to feel bad that we earn over the odds compared to the competitiion, crozier is the highest paid civil servant in this country should he also apply that argument to himself?

a few years ago they said we were undervalued and underpaid(remember royal mail signed upto the agreements to up the value of royal mail employees, now it all means diddly squat.we have served our purpose now the real agenda is to reduce costs is to reduce our wages.

I'm lead to believe that there will be a CMA managers union meeting shortly in our area as they are fed with all the extra work that they are having to do. :funneh :funneh :funneh
Don't suppose there will be much of a turnout though but a managers strike would be funny.
