An 'unofficial' forum for those who either work for Royal Mail or are looking to work for Royal Mail through the Angard Staffing Agency. This is an open forum.
The company has stated that Angard Staffing Solutions is not a way of circumventing the Agency Workers' Regulations. They have stated that staff employed by Angard already benefit from the rights acquired on the 1st October and that if they are still with the company after 12 weeks they will qualify for additional rights
Anybody in receipt of these "additional" rights yet?
If so do they include equal pay?
no, nothing at all, one of us emailed anagard and were told that as of Dec 24th we would receive a pay rise to £8.90 per hour but as none of us have received a wage slip since before christmas we have no idea if we actually have or not yet!
p.s...no wage slips but they still managed to send us all that letter yesterday!
I have sent emails to Angard and RM but awaiting a reply. Have just got a payslip for work done the week after Christmas and rates are still showing as £6.08ph so no change. I hope that the monies owed are backdated

I just received my pay slip today for my 13th week, starting 24th December, I got 6.35 p/h - the Christmas rate. My breaks were also removed from the time I worked.

So to recap since working for Angard I have :-
1) Lost my night allowance of £1.76, replaced by 50 pph rate
2) Lost paid breaks which I was getting when employed by RM
3) Somehow been stuck on a pay rate of £6.08 which when compared to other parts of the country still need explaining (£6.35 Christmas rate WTF?)
I would prefere to go back to a 12 week contract with a 2 week break at least the money was better and you could survive for 2 weeks on the accrued holiday pay!!

You got paid breaks as an RM casual - we didnt they always took the breaks off us. Ours breaks have never been paid for - this was one of the perks I was looking forward to with AWR.
Another example of a total mess as regards to all Casuals who work for the company with regard to pay and T&C's
The paid breaks started after last Christmas when we became RM Casuals (not Xmas Casuals) on 12 week contracts.
Its funny just relised why my payslips don't match my hours I personally record, then again who's do?
Still guess I mustn't grumble got 10 hours in so far this week (all direct from MC NOT Angard) does anyone get calls from Angard to work? I can honestly say all my work has been through direct contact with the MC
Not yet and the Angard call centre that calls us into work did not know who to contact to find out. They even contacted HR Royal Mail and nobody their seemed to know. They now have a name of a contact at Royal Mail but they are still awaiting a response from that person.
I am still on the low wage, been kept on so far, its behond the joke. But i havnt been paid at all yet so really mad now, quitting tomorrow at this rate!!!
Just got the usual email reply from the Head office on 12th Jan:-
Thanks for your note, I have asked our HR to make contact with Angard about this and they should be in contact.
Kind Regards
Gary Redmond
Chief Executive Office
my original email to Angard was sent on 4th Jan.
I am writing to ascertain the position of current staff working for Angard who have been with you since the transfer of contracts from Royal Mail on 12th September 2011.
With the introduction of the new Agency Working rules on 1st October 2011 I was under the impression that following a 12 week qualifying period those agency workers still in position at the 12 week period would be entitled to the same pay and conditions as those held by those performing a similar role within Royal mail i.e Pay, breaks and other terms and conditions.
As we now enter 2012 I have yet to hear from you as to how these changes will affect those of us still undertaking casual work for Royal Mail.
I would be grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible how and when these changes will be implemented and whether or not there will be any retrospective backdating of pay to 1st October?
I realise that following the difficulties at Christmas your offices may well be suffering a backlog of queries, however these changes were fundamental and having already taken a drop in wage on transferring over to Angard (especially night allowance) I would like to see some action before the end of the month.
I look forward to your reply in anticipation.
More firms are also adopting the ‘Swedish derogation model’, where temp staff forfeit their pay equality rights by being directly employed by an agency rather than the employer.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Not part of the contracts we received from Angard - does not mean they will not force 'new' contracts on us.

I 'think' what it means in your case is that the fact that you have decided to work for an agency you have forfeited your rights.
Though this has been criticized by some unions Hadley says that it can be an advantage to many temp workers as they become full-time employees of an agency.
It is very confusing to be fair, just one answer is needed,if I work for Angard, will I get the same pay and conditions as a blue shirt after 12 weeks.
Judging by what is going on the answer seems to be 'NO'.
what is being described as a “get-out clause” for large companies is actually a legitimate new form of supply that in many cases may benefit temporary staff, essentially giving them a permanent job with the agency they become an employee of.

Bollocks...what good is a permanent "zero hour" contract?
The contract self destructs after 50 weeks anyway.
Let's see you get a mortgage with that.
Permanent my arse.
