RM meeting to discuss closure fears - Stourport:Update!

A MEETING will be held on Thursday with Royal Mail bosses to discuss the possible closure of the Stourport Royal Mail Delivery Office.

Postal chiefs admitted they were looking into the possibility of closing the Stourport office and moving it to Kidderminster, last month. (December) Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier organised the meeting following complaints from concerned staff and residents. It will be held at the Working Men’s Club in Lickhill Road at 4pm.

Mr Garnier said: “I am delighted that Royal Mail has agreed to this meeting. Many local people and businesses are understandably worried about the impact the closure of the delivery office could have on their mail service.

“This meeting will not only be an excellent opportunity for their concerns to be aired but also a chance for the Royal Mail to explain why they have made these proposals. I urge anyone affected to join us at the meeting and look forward to seeing them there.”

Over the last few months Stourport Delivery Office has been under serious threat of closure and services moved to Kidderminster Delivery Office.

Today the Staff of Stourport Delivery Office learned that Royal Mail will not be following up their proposals and services are to remain in Stourport.

This is a massive win for the town of Stourport and I would like to thank you all for all of your support in our campaign in keeping our Delivery Office open.

Thank you all for helping me in keeping this Office open and all the hard work has finally been paid off.
