1 week into p&L

Post by wheresourmoney »

Hi lads and ladies, thought you might like to hear how our P&L is going in our office.First we were asked if we would come in half hour early, we had night sorters come in as well for what was called a settling in period of two weeks, even with this advantage it appears that most are either cutting off or claiming, alas this also brings out the ugly side of managment,we have already had people taken into the office for a dressing down for what managment are claiming is a lack of effort,,one of our main concerns is the pain, the pain in our backs, our knees and our legs, please tell me the pain does ease over time.

"one of our main concerns is the pain, the pain in our backs, our knees and our legs, please tell me the pain does ease over time" - Sorry, no it doesn't ease, far from it, a few years and you'll be thinking about knee and hip replacements.

'First we were asked if we would come in half hour early'

I would have said, why would I want to do that?, your fancy systems have worked out that this is the amount of time needed to complete these/this duty so no, I won't be coming in early, but I will be cutting off if your systems have got it wrong, and then it will be your problem boss - Bye :)

Oooohh can't wait, speech is prepared as per the above, wonder what they'll say! :left:

They'll say:
As we have made changes to the IPS and the frame layouts and people are on new duties, there will obviously need to be a period of adaptation. To support you through this period we are putting in extra resources to aid the transition period.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Every revision i've been involved in has needed a bedding in period.
Even the revisions that have "worked".
It is a good opportunity for part-timers to earn some extra money that doesn't involve even more delivery.
Some of our part-timers who were asked to start early during the bedding in period never stopped coming in early and are now full-time.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

FT, is that full-time hours by simply boosting their contract hours with o/t, or is that a written FT contract with credit for these extra hours with extra holiday and sick pay?

The first 6 weeks it was O/T.
After the 6 week PIR when it was made clear to management that the office needed the extra resource the positions became temporary full-time with full holiday and sick absence benefits.
After about 6 months when it became clear the office would always need this extra resource they became substantive positions.

A real and actual position, as opposed to temporary or transient.
