For those who are wavering
I know that there are those who think that the union is misguided and feel that strikes will acheive little. I know there are those who cannot afford to lose money.
But i ask that you consider this:
If the union, which is us collectively, were to lose this dispute do you think Royal Mail would stop with these proposals?
When i started with RM all overtime was paid at double time after 12 hours.
There were no households.
If you had a big delivery you had at most two pouches!
Sick pay was paid to everyone, including new entrants!
My pension was SECURE!
I didn't get rung up at home to check on my 'welfare' regarding sickness!
Royal mail's aim is not only to get its way for this 'round' but to complete a knockout against the cwu. Then it really can begin its real agenda and who knows what that is?
Mail centres competing against each other?
Franchise deliveries with the franchise holder responsible for sick and leave coverage?
It could even get really riddiculous:
Postman paid for delivery by pouch weight!
STAND BY YOUR UNION, IF IT LOSES THE RACE TO THE BOTTOM STARTS HERE!

The union is only as strong as its members but the role reversal is now in play and we are only as strong as those who make the decisions. At this minute in time members are the ones calling for more forecable action yet we hear nothing from messrs Ward and Hayes. If October 8th comes with no real guidance or intervention then understand we MUST take our own action and remove those who are unable to make critical decisions.

im tending to agree with jackdaw, we need public support and with christmas looming if we go out the public would turn like a pack of hungry wolves against us, if we work to rule the public might be able to see we are trying to do the job to the best of our ability whislt fighting against these stupid strings that these idiots are trying to bring in, ive already been told that customers want their mail earlier rather than later, and ive said put in a complaint, hopefully if enough complaints go in from the customers, it MIGHT help our cause :lfo :cfo :lfo :cfo

My rep showed me a copy of the 'flexible working' proposals, find them on here in NEWS forum and read them. Should put anybody with any self respect off crossing a picket line. If you want Royal Fail to bounce you round like a ball and have no life outside this s**t. . . . . . . :lfo :cfo :lfo :cfo :lfo :cfo

There's nothing stopping you doing both - the union advocate this - but how many are actually doing it?jackdaw wrote:I am not wavering in that i see the need for positive action but generally speaking I disagree with strike action. If we did our jobs by the book we would get somewhere and a lot of managers would be under pressure...they would also be doing a lot of walking.
