Obtaining a job reference from Angard?
I'm interviewing for a position where I have to provide a reference from my most recent employer... that being Angard. Anyone got ANY clues if they do this and which address to give the employers if so? I still have the HR details and third party consent form for Royal Mail HR for last years employment, tempted to give that in as well as angards details as I don't trust them to bother.
We asked our shift managers whilst at RM about this and they told us they can only provide character references, not a work reference. :/

You could put your shift manager down and the address for the site you work at. I have been putting down my shift manager that I had at Eurocentral (Outhouse) but now that is shut down I've just put where the manager is based at (Glasgow Mail Centre, Springburn) but I only know he's been based at Springburn because my mum works for Royal Mail and she knows him.Emzay wrote:I'm interviewing for a position where I have to provide a reference from my most recent employer... that being Angard. Unfortunately as I say when we asked our shift managers they said they were only permitted to provide a character reference which isn't the same as a work reference :(

When I asked about a reference to people at royal mail before I left I was told to put down the Staff Resource Manager in the Staff Resource Section of the mail centre I was working at, so I imagine it will be the same for everyone

Re: Obtaining a job reference from Angard?
Not quite the same thing, but when I registered with an agency last year they wanted five year checkable work history so I gave them a signed copy of the consent form from my Christmas Casual work at Christmas 2010 and explained what they needed to do with it.......about a week later I received a letter from RM HR asking for my consent for them to release a reference,so the agency woman obviously hadn't sent the form in with her reference request. I still got the assignment though.

Angard: "Who is this you're talking about? You say they worked for us? Even we don't know that. Did we pay them something? Can we take our money back?"

Re: Obtaining a job reference from Angard?
Does anyone have any more info on this? It's something that would be really handy for me at the moment as i'm struggling for references.
It's not something I could have asked any of the RM guys on-site for because we barely came into contact with them so nobody knew me, and the ones I did see now and again were more like supervisors than full managers.
Obviously they won't be able to give one that will go into any detail, but it would help a lot to have someones details to put on application forms just to confirm you worked there, you attended every shift and there were no reports of any problems

Re: Obtaining a job reference from Angard?
this may not help anyone here, but I phoned Angard who told me to get one from the local Royal Mail
So good news is that I will be able to get a reference from Royal Mail, got all the contact details I need.

Have just received an email from one of them, apparently you have to contact angard.employee@reedglobal.com for it.
That is from a 'senior account manager'.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But they do not appear to know who has worked for them, where they worked, when they started or how long forPOSTMAN wrote:Have just received an email from one of them, apparently you have to contact angard.employee@reedglobal.com for it.

Re: Obtaining a job reference from Angard?
I've just been using my employer before Angard for my most recent reference. I haven't had any queries because of this yet, but I don't see how a recruitment agency would be expected to disclose an accurate reference. Can't you get away with using your last "proper" employer?

Re: Obtaining a job reference from Angard?
The odds are Angard will just give a basic reference confirming that you were employed by them between certain dates for Royal mail and the rate of pay which means any references via Angard are likely to be full of errorslnort986 wrote:I've just been using my employer before Angard for my most recent reference.
