Royal Mail delivery office closures in Bexley could mean long trips to pick up parcels

THE CLOSURE of mail delivery offices in Belvedere, Erith and Bexley this year could mean round trips of more than 11 miles for people to collect undelivered mail.
Royal Mail’s £70 million shake-up in Kent will mean a flagship mail centre in Rochester which processes all mail, and while a series of delivery centres will close.
This means people who want to pick up undelivered parcels and would currently drive to either Bexley, Erith or Belvedere delivery offices will have to travel to a delivery hub in Dartford, although no date has been set for the closures, which are expected this year.
The decision follows a sharp decline in the number of letters sent, and a proportionally higher number of parcels.
Nurse Elizabeth White said not having a delivery office in Erith would be ‘difficult’.
Mrs White, 60, of Sandpiper Drive in Erith said: “I would need two buses to get to Dartford.
“It can be difficult to get through when you phone up for redelivery. If you work shifts, it is not helpful because you have to get back home.
“I think there should be a more local one.”
Belvedere resident Joyce Good, 62, of Paroma Road said: “It is a long way to go. You would have to pay extra for petrol. I think I would rather there was somewhere nearer.”
Royal Mail said that nobody has to collect their mail unless they choose to. Anyone can choose to have their undelivered mail redelivered at a convenient time between Monday and Saturday, even to an alternative address in the same post code area.
In November, Royal Mail also began a trial in North Gatwick whereby items too big to fit through the letterbox or requiring a signature can be delivered to a neighbour if no-one is in. It hopes the scheme will bring it into line with other delivery companies and will roll it out nationwide if the trial is a success.

Revisions should be interesting for those offices.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
