Guardian want updates

I've heard from a few Royal Mail xmas temps who say they have still not been paid for work they did before xmas, or have been paid bizarre amounts of money (ranging from 0.01p to £100).

I want to reinvestigate the situation,I would like those who worked for Angard to contact me by email if they have have experienced the above scenario, and particularly if resulting cashflow problems have caused them problems meeting rent/mortgage payments etc. It would help me enormously if those getting in touch would potentially be willing to be named in a news story about it.

I would really need to hear back from anyone affected by Wednesday if possible.

Don't forget to mention the debt letters...

ye.. dont believe he knows about Angard/rm trying to reclaim vouchers back, and definately not the recent thing of angard saying people owe 'them' money now ...

Just ... I laughed at the reclaiming vouchers thing .. the whole telling people they now owe angard (regardless if they had a voucher or not), just left me gobsmacked ..

I must note that under current Employment Law (2008), Angard may be liable to pay for "such amount as the tribunal considers appropriate in all the circumstances to compensate the worker for any financial loss sustained by him which is attributable to the matter complained of." (s.7 (1) (b)), as per Subsection 7(1)(b).

You may also be liable for a fine as per Employment Law (2008), Section 9 (19), and Section 9 (19b) for financial penalties due to underpaid minimum wage, occurance on a weekly event may mean that Angard may be liable for multiple financial penalties to those affected by this, as per S.9(19)(1) & (2) and S 9.(19a)(1)

below applies where an officer acting for the purposes of this Act is of the opinion that, on any day (“the relevant day”), a sum was due under section 17 above for any one or more pay reference periods ending before the relevant day to a worker who at any time qualified for the national minimum wage. (S.9(19)(1)).

A notice of underpayment must, subject to this section, require the employer to pay a financial penalty specified in the notice to the Secretary of State within the 28-day period. (S.9(19a(1)).

The points of law are just extra factors in case people are wondering what the actual law in thier current situation is, go go email Mr Snowdon - The Guardian is a national paper, most MP's are ruled by the press, the more of a story he has to build upon the more MP's will hopefully take up this matter.

I just emailed him my story. I haven't had any debt letters yet, although I should've done. Got paid in total £700 in emergency vouchers and got paid 1p last week. Should be an interesting article if it gets published...

So anybody who incurred bank charges through insufficient funds due to not being paid properly should be able to claim those from Angard as well then.

yep, basically,

1 - Anyone who's incurred extra charges either because of late bills, bank charges, credit cards, etc, that would have been reasonably paid if you had been paid properly/on time, under law will be able to apply for those costs aswell.

2 - Angard/RM are may have to pay financial penalties for those that got paid 1p a week (under minimum wage), for each occurance (though tbh, any financial penalty would just be lumped together into one fine per person).

The chap in the Guardian article's case study in the same situation as me. I've been paid at the "national" rate rather than the local agreed rate, so it may not be typical, but it's hardly rare. I remember nearly everyone on my shift of 20 were paid the national rate.

Yes aplologies to Graham at the Guardian. It turns out that the article was spot on. Especially the pay rates! I has worried me on this forum for ages that some of us have been shafted with pay by Angard, especially those that were moved across from RM contracts. I have posted many times that despite being assured back in September that pay would not change under Angard I have lost my £1.76 night allowance and Sunday allowance. Obviously these rates were local before Angard took over and every Casual in the Canterbury MC took the drop in pay.

I will be emailing RM later quoting the article to see how we stand.

BTW still nothing received from Angard on my emailed pay queries for the last two weeks or a reply about Agency Working changes....par for the course!
