Axeman in raid on Abram Post Office

MASKED men, one armed with an axe, stole money during a raid on Abram Post Office.

At 12.45pm on Tuesday two men walked into the Post Office on Warrington Road, jumped over the counter and demanded cash.

A large amount of money was given to them before they ran off and escaped in a silver Ford Connect and drove in the direction of Golborne, towards the East Lancashire Road.

The robbers wore dark clothing. Nobody was injured during the raid but Detective Constable Andy Hill from Wigan CID said: “Staff were obviously left shaken by their ordeal.

“The Post Office is on a busy road and we believe someone would may have seen these men run out of the shop or driving off at speed towards Golborne.

“If you did see anything suspicious, I would urge you to contact police as soon as possible.”
