Found out at the union meeting last night that we are to loose 12 F/T and approx 40 P/T due to revision. How was my day? I've had better.

I am in office of around 170 duties ish, looking around the same amount they are looking to get rid of, may soon be looking for another job.

The mood last night was woebegone. I'm expecting a fight, but not much of one. Skinny bloke raising his fists against Vitali Klitschko kind of fight.

Personally, I don't see how the office can survive losing many staff at all. There are baby walks as mentioned earlier, but some of the rurals are ridiculous. There are drivers who fail regularly, and when you consider that this work all has to be incorporated into the walks, the idea that we can lose more than a dozen sounds pretty absurd to me.

We fail on IPS on heavy days - RM wants to lose twelve full-time staff, and cut down the indoor workload per individual to bring in 4.5 hour walks. By my estimate they stand to lose about 280 hours a week off indoor - bear in mind many walks are left unprepped as is and IPS/packets sometimes struggle.

In terms of the outdoor work, well, we all know how outdoor revisions end up working. The thing is, all the staff they stand to get rid of are the kind who are actually willing to o/t. So when the revision does come in and fails, it's highly unlikely that there'll be anybody to dig RM out of a hole. On top of that, the calibre of management is at best indifferent. I've said it before and I'll say it again - some managers are nice people, some are horrible, but they're all linked by a common trait when it comes to actual ability.

Where it goes from here is anybody's guess. I suspect there'll be delays and all-sorts, I guess there's a possibility that RM are shooting high and aiming low - shocking the office with ridiculous figures so that their eventual (and perhaps original) targets are considered merciful when they make their next offer. That's certainly what I would do from a bargaining perspective. It's amazing the things people are prepared to lose when they first believed they were going to lose more.

That's alright for some but myself and fng will be on the dole no matter what targets they settle on. One of the major problems as I see it is that there is no collective will to fight for each other and against the employer. Everybody is for themselves, and despite an omnipresent miasma hanging in the air this morning, it was still a race for the door from 6.00 onwards.

I couldn't agree more, it was business as usual.

I got the feeling from the meeting/office and forgive me if im wrong, but apart from lip service to the sheer volume of P/T losses the focus seemed to be on the 12 F/T losses.
I know I speak on behalf of myself, but I'm a fulltimer wannabe and wouldbe, if RM would take on F/T but they dont, they only offer P/T.

I reckon that the middle order of F/Ts have done their maths and worked out who will be going by VR and who will be going by lack of "seniority" and they know they can sit back and argue the toss over doing an extra hour or heaven forbid an extra 2 hrs on a saturday, moan and groan then sign upto the new world order and business as usual.

I'm not after picking a fight on here and to anyone who takes umbridge .....i apologise...... im just not happy thats all. As i am sure neither are the other 12 / 39
