I recently finished working for Royal Mail through Angard over the Xmas period and a little time afterwards. I did roughly 5 weeks as a regular sorter, then got kept on after xmas until the 3rd January. Then after that I got moved on to deliveries/regular postman work until last saturday, 7th January.
I'm wondering, is it worth me popping into my local delivery and sorting centre and finding out if there is anymore work to be had? Or is the only way of possibly getting a permanent job/semi-permanent job/more casual work by waiting for a vacancy to come up online and then applying for it that way? I know the manager of the plant fairly well, so I can ask directly if that is required (which is probably would be).
I was told by the delivery lot that they'd take my number down and call me if anything came up, but I'm not really sure I trust that!
I luckily got paid everything I should have (so far!), so I don't really see that as an obstacle of not trying to work for them.
Mind you, its probably a bad idea as most of the delivery centres are looking to get rid of people rather than take them on....just wondering if its even vaguely worth a shot or will I be wasting my journey?
