Angard and JSA Advice

Post by lnort986 »

Was wondering if anybody could give me some help? I've been working for Angard since November 28th and like most people's experiences, mine has been of complete incompotence from the start. The RM managers have changed my hours from Angard's original agreement to suit them better, which I don't mind since I get extra hours (Am working 5am-1pm with the permanant staff). However I'm sick of the pay problems and tired of working like a dog under management who just expect more, more, more and since I've not been paid properly for two weeks I want to leave. Angard has promised that the wage problem would be sorted out by the 11th, it's not looking promising and there seems to be no way to contact any higher chain of staff beyond the useless telephone operatives to resolve the problem (Even the RM Managers can't get any further solution from this).

However, if I leave, despite the pay problems I risk not getting JSA. I asked my managers if I could switch to ManPower (If they allow) and they said no as Angard are cheaper (I'm sure it would look good to the media that RM refuse to use a functioning agency whom pays staff because they want to save pennies). I am actively job hunting but jobs aren't easy to get, does anybody have any advice on how I can fight this situation without letting Angard get the better of me and being left with no means to survive? I already went two months without benefit due to medical problems from being in my last working environment for a number of years.

I'm in the same situation. Surely not being paid is a good enough reason to leave a job, but I'm not sure the jobcentre would see it that way.

Society is a joke nowadays, whatever happened to concepts like honour and the right to stand up for one's self? :(

Have fun for a few days, be lazy, put things in the wrong place, turn up late, take days off with no explanation. They will sack you and you can sign on.

Well the problem there is I take my working life very seriously, I've never been sacked and I don't particularly want to be. Even if you get sacked JSA can be refused, especially using the above method as I would be blatantly begging for it.

Oh for god sake! Your a casual you don't work set hours. SIGN ON!! all you have to do is put down the hours you work that week. As long as you don't go over 16 hours your benefits won't be affected.

Your not some "prisoner" of Angard. Yes its a bind having to sign off/ sign on if you go over but that's how it goes WORK or Dole?

Ok sorry on a serious note though you can go about it in the above mentioned way. I actually do it that way during the summer months when I'm doing festival work. There are ways and means to do these thing and keeping your credibility. I'd be doubtful of getting any work references from them though

Im ex Job centre staff, got made redundant, JSA wont be affected as you were a casual, inform JSA of this, I have just resigned on myself after working xmas as a casual, I told them I was laid off, which is true, We were only employed as casuals, so you havent ' left, or deliberatly made yourself unemployed', should not be a problem,

JSA is dated from date you made claim, you can request backdating, tell them the reason you couldnt put claim in as the offices were closed, I did mine on line 26th boxing day, so was dated from this date. They might ask why you did not put claim in as soon as office was open, depends what date you wish to claim from.

Any flexible workers being released from Angard that wish to make a benefits' claim should do so online at http://www.direct.gov.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and follow the links for Job Seeker's Allowance.

Jobcentre Plus does not insist on receiving a P45 when someone starts a claim and there is no
timescale by which an individual has to submit this form.

Jobcentre Plus does not insist on receiving a letter from the employer, particularly if the employer has been with Royal Mail or Angard, where significant numbers of individuals are returning to benefits after seasonal employment and rapid reclaim action is taken.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It does matter, when you get paid from, thy only pay from date you made claim- unless you request backdating

It is ulnlikely backdating will be awarded, you have to make claim as soon as you leave/contract ends, I did check with an ex collegue, makes no difference if Job centre is closed.
