Re: Will you work for Angard next Christmas ?
I`m not even going to attempt to apply online, register or anything else this year. I`ve worked for Royal Mail at Christmas since 2000 and this has been the worse year for online applying, registering at the Park Inn York and waiting for vetting and the start date. Never have I seen such a very poor organisation as Angard, who not only tell lies but are very bad-mannered and inconsistent in their approach to employees. Royal Mail ought to be ashamed of themselves and totally embarrassed
using this dreadful employment agency - I know things have been going downhill since the word `privatisation` entered the vocabulary of the Conservative and Tory Governments but this year has been the worst I`ve experienced.

Royal Mail didn't just use "this dreadful employment agency", they created it and they wholly own it.

No - its a complicated web but Angard I think sub contracted out the Administration and Recruitment side of the contract to Reid Recruitment, but it looks as though they kept the responsibility for Wages etc. Manpower AFAIK are a independent company that some regions within RM used to get casuals outside of the Angard contract.c0bo wrote:Thank for the correction I heard from a fellow royal Mail worker that Angard owned Manpower.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:No Angard are a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Mail Group PLC.c0bo wrote:Isn't Manpower owned by Angard?samm12321 wrote:I'd apply through Manpower! Which is the main agency that Royal Mail uses to recruit temporary workers?
Royal Mail has contracts with Angard, Manpower, Pertemps and Depoel. Angard manage the supply of all industrial workers, Manpower and Pertemps supply drivers only to the organisation except in instances where Angard cannot supply. Depoel provide all PFWW supply regardless of job role.

REED do the payroll - all the paperwork comes from REED Specialist Recruitment or REED Managed Services (RMS is on the back of the envelope when we get our pay slips). The payroll offices, as far as can be made out, are at REED Specialist Recruitment offices in Andover and Poole. The payroll manager is at REED Managed Services in Raynes Park London. The Northampton call centre address is a REED Specialist Recruitment Recruitment address. The data input centre who put my bank details on their database is a REED office in Coventry (Note: within a week this was lost and I had to go through the process again with payroll in Andover and a few days later with payroll in Poole).TrueBlueTerrier wrote: No - its a complicated web but Angard I think sub contracted out the Administration and Recruitment side of the contract to Reid Recruitment, but it looks as though they kept the responsibility for Wages etc. Manpower AFAIK are a independent company that some regions within RM used to get casuals outside of the Angard contract.
What REED receive from Royal Mail, from what I can establish after discussions with REED payroll and RM personnel, is the hours worked and the pay rate. REED are then supposed to process that.

Re: Will you work for Angard next Christmas ?
Angard subcontracting their activities should not surprise us. Angard is not a real company with its own premises and employees, it is a 'front', a company in name only for the royal mail. to bypass normal working regulations and employ workers by agency laws instead. I knew in November that this was being run by Reed simply by googling the telephone numbers I was given!

I enjoyed the work i'm just miffed at the treatment of us casuals from start to finish. it's insulting and i agree, Angard / Reed - whoever, continue to be incompetent.
If anyone else ran the recruitment in September and treated the applicants like valuable employees!! then yes, I would apply but just to hear the name Angard again will be enough to make me run for miles and keep on running!!
I'm voting maybe!

Re: Will you work for Angard next Christmas ?
Absolutely! When I wrote to my MP asking that this whole sorry mess be investigated by the appropriate Government department, I added in a large part about Reed's complicity in this (inlcuding the fact that their ignorant CEO James Reed didn't bother to acknowledge my later e-mails to him). Remember, Reed have a Government contract in one of their subsidiaries to "help long term unemployed people make the transition back to work", so they no doubt get Government funding for that (i.e. from the taxpayer). Reed are as guilty as Angard, whatever that is.Verging wrote:REED do the payroll - all the paperwork comes from REED Specialist Recruitment or REED Managed Services (RMS is on the back of the envelope when we get our pay slips).
