Royal Mail spokesperson Valerie Antoine said: "This is not the experience
of the large majority of the almost 20,000 temporary people whom have
worked for Royal Mail over the Christmas period. It is absolutely not the
case that there is 'widespread' difficulties over pay. The overwhelming
majority of our temporary Christmas workers have been paid on time.

We sincerely apologise to Ms Estrada-Hart and Mr Curtis. We will resolve
these individual cases as quickly as possible.

"Royal Mail is very grateful to our temporary Christmas workers. They have
played an important role in delivering the nation's festive mailbag.

"We are aware that some people are unhappy about receiving a payment of 1p.
In the vast majority of cases, this is because we have previously paid more
than was due to that particular person and we are now seeking to recoup the
amount owed to Royal Mail. We explained that this would be happening when
we made the pay advances. To recoup the amount owed, we need to complete a
pay run and that requires a nominal payment in order to complete a
transaction. We are sorry for any upset this has caused."

If it is ....'not the experience of the large majority of the almost 20,000 ....', why has it taken almost two months to reconcile everybody's pay?

How many weekly payslips are processed in a normal RM run - or Reed for that matter? Many 000's I would suggest, and how many mistakes are regularly made?

Make it clear that the 1p has been paid to people who did not get a voucher, and haven't been overpaid in any way. Tell them about the complete lack of communication, and the empty promises of calling us back when we phone. Tell them about the people who have worked for weeks and still been paid nothing at all. Tell them about the loss of bank details. Tell them about the failure to supply pay slips.

I am in the Look East region, and look forward to watching. :Very Happy

I would add to that.
Tell them that the Angard payrates are a LOT less than the ones Royal Mail paid last year.
You only find out that fact when you start working for them and IF they happen to send you a payslip.
Angard are "trying" to short change people who have worked as Christmas Casuals on previous years by 100's of pounds.

We know better and will not stand for it.

I have been posting about pay as far back as September 2011 when we were transferred over to Angard from our "terminated" RM contracts. We were given assurances that our pay would remain the same under Angard that being £5.95ph which is what happened. However it became apparent that what we were not told was that our allowances were stopped. Very underhand and very sneaky.

Tell them about our breaks breaching Working Time Regulations - minimum break for 6 hours in WTR is 20 minutes : we get 15 minutes.

Any idea when your piece will be on? Looked at lunchtime and didn't see anything. Also is it on BBC East (East) or (West)?

Where did you work this Christmas Joker1 - was it Ipswich? Saw the one at Chelmsford and it made me cringe. The person interviewed had been paid not just in full but way too much at that point in the game!
I will check the local news on the BBC later but may miss it if it is on tomorrow. Will probably be in London. Monday - will check again.
Just I was planning to move out to the the other side of Ipswich this year and maybe ................. yes just maybe I will consider working at Christmas again, Only if it is as a RM direct casual though. Will never consider working for Angard again. There is no chance.
I only have my P45 to request now. Will do this next week when my 4th and final payslip should arrive. Holiday pay has been received in full. I have been one of the lucky ones but still detest this agency with a passion.
