This picture shows the Union flag that hangs at the Royal Mail centre on Milner Street.
But the national flag's sorry state has lead to complaints sent in to the Guardian.
Royal Mail has yet to respond to requests for a comment.

The Union added in a joint communication that we had to accept that flags were changing and it was more important to protect what was left of the flag rather than live in the past when flags were whole.
