This can't be right as it is not as far as I am aware agreed with the Union, this unapproved performance test cannot be applied, it would form the basis of an ET if a sacking comes out of it.

what cant be right? LKDR, Spot checks? all i can say is welcome to the MDEC. LKDR is under, or was under, disagreement but it hasn't stopped local management using it against not only keyers but coaches as well, they have not stopped using either tools since they 1st came in despite union attempts at blocking it or removing them altogether. I know of 1 example at our office where a coach admitted in WTL to being taken off the shop floor and being asked to explain why they were on LKDR for taking down tag ID's. As far as spot checks are concerned, yes they are in place and being used in our MDEC, i don't know if they have been rolled out to any others yet though. Do you really think management give a s**t if they are union agreed or not as long as it gets performance up? If it gets someone out the door if they need to get numbers down they would, and probably have, risked an ET.

To be honest I don`t think our current union representative is brilliant anyway. If it does`nt effect his small group he isn`t bothered. Things like waiting out the front on the last few days a week, flirting with male colleagues, threatening people with violence when they don`t agree with him and I have even heard him say that he wants to see the building closed down and be paid off. I am thinking of leaving the union, certainly more so since he became area. I don`t know how we ended up getting him back and now he is in a higher position than before. :cry

Khelben , given the number of overturned dismissals we've had at Stoke MDEC, they could end up forking out more in ET claims than redundancy. Provided people stand their ground. The thinking that managers have, Penfold especially, is that people will just meekly take whatever is thrown at them.

to be completely honest typing mate, i just want out now. Im starting to care less and less wether thats by redundancy or IHR but i wont let them sack me. The way i see it I've been working at one of the MDEC's now for near as makes no difference 10 years, I've gone too far too let them get rid of me now by sacking me and ending up with a mark on my employment record. I'd rather see how things go over this 95% accurracy crap that we constantly keep having rammed down our throats. I know this sounds like a horrid thing to say but i think we need a test case. If management ever sack someone (unlikely i know but i wouldnt put it past them) for getting less than 95% even though the gate way standards that are agreed state 80% i would be very interested in seeing where the land lies in an ET on that basis. I know people have been conducted for it before now and i wont go into specifics but if management sacked someone on that basis and the ET was successful then some employees might get more money than they would if they took VR.

Just out of curiosity dungeon, what office do you work at and who is youre union rep?

I'm just asking because if you are referring to Stoke MDEC which only has 1 IR Rep who is also the Area Rep, I know for a fact that you are full of s**t. So you must either be lying through youre back teeth and full of it or be referring to one of the other 2 MDECs. Beleive me the rep there isn't in a position where he is physically menacing enough to threaten anyone with violence, harry f***ing hill has used threats than anyone i know to get the job done, him and his lads that he's going to send round and to be honest a lot of people who work there want to see stoke close 1st, infact i have never heard so many people say that they just want to be made redundant now so its not really a big secret or just one person saying it, if you hang around for more than an hour you will hear atleast a dozen people there all say the same thing. Besides i see you're post was made at 5:52PM, thats strange in itself. That puts you directly in line with being halfway through the 1st hour of the 5:15 starters at Stoke MDEC. Makes me wonder how you managed to get the time not only register but also to comment on here when you should have been keying then and the post was constant, there wasnt any please waits that night until 8:30 ish. but of course that is if you are one of the stokies, for all i know you could be from plymouth.

yeah i know mate, i just dont like these types who come onto forums deliberately to slag someone off and turn into keyboard rambos cos of the annonymity the internet provides, i bet 10-1 these sort of people have never had the balls to confront the people who's character they're trying to assassinate face to face and tell them what they think.
