All together now
Tuesday 27 December
Our mail centre at Chester is the latest to celebrate hitting its second walk-sequencing target.
As part of the Business Transformation 2010 and Beyond agreement, each mail centre gets an extra payment for introducing new equipment that puts mail in exact walk order to reach locally agreed targets.
Proud moment
Mail centre manager Senol Ali says: ‘This makes us one of the leading teams in the country. It’s a really proud moment for us.’
Chester has installed eight new Compact Sequence Sorter (CSS) machines, part of our huge modernisation programme investment.
By sorting more mail to walk order by machine, delivery postmen and women spend less time prepping mail on sorting frames so can spend longer on deliveries.
June Warren, late shift packets, says: ‘It’s really good that we’ve achieved this target. We’ve all pulled together to achieve it.’
James O’Donnell, early delivery traffic re-engineering, adds: ‘I’m really pleased we’ve hit the target. It’s taken a while, but we got there with all four shifts working together.’
