UPDATE
I had a letter for me from the resident waiting for me on my frame this morning given to relief postie on tuesday. Saying sorry you were offended by what i said, i was trying to find out if you broke my letterbox and you were very impolite by argueing with me, can i have my post again please.
not quite the apology i was after but better than nothing and she now knows not to mess with me.
thanks all

Had a fellow worker who had it come off in his hand and posted it in the nearest postbox. Guess who was the cover the next day and got the flak from the customer.

Just wonder if a customer facing role is your forte.happyhippo wrote:UPDATE

A few times people have complained to me, I just say "yeah, sorry and move on" even if it was plainly not my fault. For one I have not got time to get involved in long arguments about who did what, and for two its not my job to handle complaints, let the ones who get paid for this do that.

I have worked in customer service all my life and always excell at it, its just i have respect for myself and dont take crap off anyone especially little hitlers who think postmen/women can be a target for abuse. If i come across as arogant im sorry but 99% of my residents love my service to them and i have so far received many christmas cards with messages on like "to the best postman we have ever had", and "thank you for the great service for such a long time". I like working with the public a great deal its the only reason i still work for RM because we are an appreciated part of society. Its just sad some people dont see it that way.dvbuk55 wrote:Just wonder if a customer facing role is your forte.happyhippo wrote:UPDATE

Re: What would you do?
Yeah but there's a way of doing it, yelling back at a customer isn't the way. The only time I yelled at a customer when he blocked my exit from a block of flats and was threatening. Told him to move his fat arse or he'd be chewing his bollox for breakfast.
Usually best to smile and tell them any complaints must go through customer service and just give them the number and carry on.
