Lets make one thing clear. What the OP said does go on, I have seen it and been on the receiving end of comments like "we don't work so you casuals can have a job". Fair point, thanks much appreciated. I don't care how many fag breaks, walking the kettle up and down all night breaks, going 10 minutes early to wash our hands before break breaks, update facebook break, footy chat break, difficult 7 down in the Daily Star crossword break or the just sitting staring into space (scary) break.
Its not my place to say anything. A vast majority of RM regulars are solid decent grafters.
The few I mentioned are badly managed and that's the problem.

There are shirkers in most offices. Got accused of being one myself when I was on indoor work, they seen me having a smoke break before my start time, then having a cig between customers. What they didn't realise was that I wasn't having a break at all. Easier for manager as he didn't need to get cover for me to have a break, and I could have a smoke when I could. Guess what I'm trying to say is, just because you see people taking little breaks, maybe they are working it off in other ways. Like I did, starting earlier, no break, and finishing later by the time the office was locked up.

All the RM workers in my office are hard workers apart from 4 of them and i had the unfortunate plesure of being stuck with them.~
all they did was talk about football,abd so to every 1 bag they were putting in a sorting box i was doing 8

The area where I work, the RM staff stand there for 40mins not working!!! The other day they were drinking cappuccino's, whilst the casuals were rushing around tipping mail. I have to say in other parts of the centre the RM satff do work hard.

This year I've met hard-working, civil RM employees and I've met hard-working, civil casuals. I've also met skiving ''I'm better than them'' believers on both sides.

My way of dealing with this is to engage with the good and to reject the kind of people who play the ''we casuals/RM staff do all the work'' game. Both sides.

It's not us v them here, it should be all of us v Angard (if they're still in business, not having honoured any of their assurances over these last few weeks)

RM employees aren't scum.
Angard employees aren't either.

Angard are. (Also any RM buckpasser who says ''take it up with Angard'' makes Pontius Pilate look like a truly ethical person. Mind you, once you say ''Angard are Royal Mail'' they do tend to shut up.)

a lot of the RM workers are old junkie bastards and are lazier than us angard workers. im a dirty skieving bastard ill admit that but i get paid 4.98 an hour and might not even be guaranteed my money. them lot are on 9 quid an hour and are guaranteed pay. f**k them do whatever you want thats my mentality.

A couple of points.
You guys are 99% working in mailcentres and outhouses.
The majority of RM staff don't...they work in Delivery Offices.
In a D.O. things are a little different,
Apart from IPS which is maybe 15-20% of a full-timer's working day the work in front of you is yours,skiving off will make no difference because no one else will do it for you.
You can hide all day if you like..it will still be there when you get back..in fact it will probably have grown.
If you're going to bitch about RM staff at least do some research.

i think the person who wrote this needs alittle more thought, the RM permanent staff are being screwed over as badly as us poor casuals just in different ways and over a much longer period of time.
That being said lazy people annoy me as do people who try and play dumb just so they dont have to push yorks or do alittle extra work. But most of the lazyness ive seen so far is from casuals or agency workers. Most the RM staff at the hole im working in are nice with the exception of afew who seem to think that the casuals arent fit to lick their boots - how ever as far as im concerned as long as they stay away from me they can think whatever thay so wish :)
