I am a temp currently working for parcel force through an agency, ive been going to work for 2 weeks without a problem, until friday.
Basically i have to goto the manchester depot to get a lift in the parcel force vans upto the heywood cull, their current temporary base, As transport to and from it is difficult at the best at times never mind at 3am., i then also get a lift back to manchester depot when we finish, this was agreed between my agency, parcel force and myself (and other temps) as it was the only way to get there and back,
Everything was fine until thursday, we finished slightly early so we jumped in the vans and headed home to manchester, there was a yellow high vis in the cab on of the big warm ones with parcel force logos all over it, i asked is this anyone to the driver (temp) and fellow sorter (temp) they said no, so i said ok ill borrow it for tonight as i would be waiting from 3am until 5 am at a bus stop to get home. I checked there was no personal belongings which there wasnt and stuck it on and trotted off home.
Next day i returned to the manchester depot with the jacket and duely returned it to the van, got y lit to heywood only to be confronted 30 mins into the shift by a manager/supervisor i dont really know, asking had i taken a yellow jacket from a cab, to which i replied yes straight away and that it was now back. He then said you shouldnt of done this as they are not for you to wear, to which i appologised and said im sorry i didnt know and wont do it again. He then said it may cost me my job pending a phone call from the manchester manager, which i thought was crazy, a ticking off was surely enough, anyway the shift passed by and wasnt spoken to again about it, so i thought everything was fine and the issue was resolved...
So today i turn up at manchester ready for my lift to heywood to then be told 30 minutes after waiting that i wasnt going to be given a lift any longer and had to make my own way due to the jacket incident, which i thought was highly unfair and impossible as there was no other way for me to get there or back.
So tonight i havent managed to get to work and have informed my agency why which will be looked into tomorrow.
Is it me or is this really petty on behalf of the management, i could unserstand if it was some ones personal super dry jacket or whatever, or if i had half inched a tv out the back of the van, but all i did was wear a big bright parcel force jacket for one night not knowing i was doing any wrong and after the ticking off id never of done it again. It was never ever mentioned at any point we couldnt wear these by the way.
I now cant get to or from heywood basically making me incapable of the doing the job, but this is no fault of my own and believe there has been a massive over reaction. i know cant work all week unless the agency sort it out and havent got time to find any work now before christmas or even sign on, so im in a pickle, i believe ive been treated unfairly and will be going to a citizens advice bureau wednesday if this is not sorted out, as i am 100 willing to work, but it is parcel force not me who is making this impossible, if i had done some thing so bad they should of sacked me.
I just think this is laughable over such a petty thing, does anyone else agree with me, or could give me any advice i would much appreciate it, im basically being accused of being a thief, although i passed my cbr and have never stolen a single thing in my life, ive never even had a tram fine haha.
Sorry for the essay but i feel this is out of order and i am currently very angry!
