Park and loop is a total shambels it cannot take acount of the individvals walk speeds nor there compatability to work as a TEAM i say this as this is part and parcel of the whole idea of park and loop to introduce TEAM WORKING through the back door!. It has thus far failed to live up to the expectations of the very same management ideal that has pressganged us all into its induction in this workplace and now they blame us that told them it would not work!. It is not for want of trying upon our part but the cammel in the sand attitude of the very same management that sought this most egregious attack upon us all of our working conditions!. THEY CAN SHOVE IT WHERE THE SUN DONT SHINE!. :evil/mad

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Park and look is GREAT!
The major problem with it is the trolley - what a pile of crap! The other problem is that you have to work closely with somebody else and this often doesn't work well.

1) ditch the trolley and treat it like a mobile pouch box.
2) forget shoebox size, if you can take it then do so. If you park your van near a large drop then a walker can deliver it, it is not a 'drivers' package.
3) get two keys
4) re-sequence your walk into many small loops so you have light bags which can carry large packets.
5) if you can then re-sequence your walk so your loops are out of sync. i.e. the driver loops back to the van but the walker loops/dead walks to where than van will be parked next.
6) organise yourselves. Put returned items in a large sack, keep empty pouches to one side, full pouches in order etc.

Many of the more vocal on here will moan about doing the job 'properly' which usually means 'like an arsehole'. Park and loop can work given a good manager and a reasonable workload.
I don't want to go back to the old cycle method, this is the way forward ... but don't call it Park & Loop, call it Mobile Pouch Box.

Why?
What's in any of that for us?
I don't want to carry large packets in bags :left: ...that's stooopid...that's what the van's for.
Why would anyone dead walk? ...that's stoopider...again that's what the van's for.
If you use small loops you're going to have to replenish more...how do you account for that?...do you just make up for it because you can still cut corners and go faster with a bag on your back? :chuckle
Is this how they get these revisions to work?...just ignore everything and make it up as you go along.
Go with keeping the van tidy though...that's good advice

The van is not for large packets, the van is for anything you can't carry. Doing a packet drop takes time in a van and you should avoid it wherever possible.
I mean cut out dead walking (e.g. where houses are only on one side of the street) by the walker not having to loop back to the van.
Replenishing taken very little time if you have your van tidy and in order an typically takes me under 30 seconds, much faster and safer for my back than getting a trolley in and out. My pouches don't exceed 10Kg.
I haven't ignored anything. I just said to not use the trolleys and offered my tips on making your life easier and work more efficient. Don't cut corners - cut off!

Hence the reason you've got a trolley that can take two bags.

Exactly! But you don't need a trolly if you have a van you can use as a mobile pouch box.

That's not how P&L is supposed to work as you're increasing the fuel used.

That is how it does work. 5p fuel vs 2 hours extra labour.

But Spedley...why would we want to take away 2 hours extra labour?
Haven't we lost enough jobs?

Because some loops on estates dont have roads so you have to use 2 bags on a trolley per loop

With that attitude Fishtank there is no point in the discussion.

And yes, Eastie I agree that the trolleys are good in some places. Two out of about 30 walks in out office are better with a trolley but there are always exceptions to every rule.
