You are right of course, But its not neccesarily our best course of action and Croziers ambitions are not so limitedjackdaw wrote:I believe our best course of action is to make him see how much extra it will cost him when we withdraw all goodwill. He thinks he can save money well lets all use the vans and cut off and show him how much it should be costing in overtime and fines for not making our QofS standards!!

I think it's the best thing to do. If we are to have any public support we need to be in work and making sure everyone knows what is happening. By doing our jobs properly and showing just how much Royal Mail depends on our goodwill and that without that goodwill costs will rise prohibitively we can prove a lot of Croziers ideas are badly thought out and unworkable and unsustainable. Being on strike has made people think we are lazy and greedy, the public perception of our job is that we have it very easy for good pay. This is why so many people want to work for RM, but, in delivery's at least, very many do not last, especially doing a full time walk on part time hours. there are people in our processing office who have come here later in life having worked for other big company's who are shocked at the way the workers are treated. If we want to win this fight we have to be cleverer than before, just walking out and striking is considered out of date now, if we want to have a future with RM we need to be forward thinking and use modern ideas to overcome a modern problem. deregulation is the cause of most of what's going on, bad management and bad planning are also to blame. We are being led by a bunch of greedy incompetents who's only motivation is huge profits for them to cream off in bonuses while the rest of us have to subsist on below inflation rises and larger workloads. i often wonder how mr Crozier got to where he is right now as he does'nt seem very bright or dynamic, in fact he seems like a wimp to me and i'm willing to bet he could not last very long on even an easy delivery.
There's the challenge Adam, get yourself off to the nearest DO and see how long you can stick a 5am start and a full delivery, you can have the usual amount of training and lets see how you get on!

The reason the Public seems to think that we are being greedy, is that the Media is always going on about how much money we are being offered. Obviously that is an important issue, but there are many others, which are barely (if at all) mentioned to them.
For example: reducing sick absences, by making it easier for managers to pester people with genuine illnesses. There have already been two examples that I am aware of, where managers have had to be threatened with legal action, because of the way they have treated people on sick leave. And yet they want to toughen up the system, as part of the conditions for the pay deal.
There are also several other very damaging conditions, which have already been discussed elsewhere.
Who do leighton and crozier think they are, treating us like this. We are Human Beings, not just numbers on a financial report!!!!!
