Do we get paid for induction day?

My shift is 10pm to 6am. We had induction on monday 5th december and i signed in and was asked to wait till 11pm for induction and we started work at 12 so will i be paid for this day?

Should be paid b'cuz it wasnt really an induction day. They give me a start date of the 5th of dec...2pm -10pm. Turned up at 2pm, started working after viewing health n safety dvd and also being showed around.

As far as I know you still get paid for that day. It's not really an induction day after all - you're only inducted for about an hour or so then you begin work.

The last two years when I did Christmas Casual work I started on a Tuesday but was asked to attend the mail centre for induction on the preceding Thursday. In both cases the induction consisted of the various videos and a tour of the building and lasted about ninety minutes. The first year an hour and a halfs pay was added to my first payslip,but last year I didn't get the money for it until my final payslip.

i'm off for one tomorrow and was assured in the phone calls leading up to it that i would be paid for it. they needed banking details so they could do this…

Answer to first part is like answering 'How long is a piece of string?".

You usually get the induction in the first hour of your first day but you may not get an induction or you may be called in for an induction prior to your first day so they can do a few people at a time.
