I will no longer go work for this company I had a terrible feeling from the start that I wasnt going to get paid properly

I am 31 yrs of age and have never worked for an insulting amount of pay in my life. I work from home repairing mobile phones and buying and selling various different electrical items on ebay but the wages I have just received in my bank tbrougb Angard has really angered me. I will be taking this up with Citizens Advice Bureau if it is not sorted out but one this is for sure I am not going to work for them again and will not recommend.
sorry to say .. but you probably have been paid right ... depending if your tax has been sorted on to the right rate .. chances are your still on emergency tax with it being your first pay .. plus .. depending when you started .. you would only have got paid up to the end of the thursday night shift as the friday is technically the start of the next week for night shift workers due to the payroll cut off dates.

johnfoster-2 wrote:Hi everyone,

We have had a similar experience to everyone else on this forum. We were told we would be paid on the 16th after doing two weeks work. We weren't paid yesterday and were told that we would be today (Saturday 17th dec.) via postal order. This didn't happen either. The performance of this agency (an IN-HOUSE staffing agency) has been atrocious at every turn. Not only with the pay but also with contacting people and letting them know whether or not they would be employed, not to mention the ludicrous amount of paperwork which this 'employer' saw fit to palm off upon interviewees

Some of our group in Carlisle made the choice to walk out and refuse to work until we were paid. I urge everybody else who is in the same position to do what we have done. REFUSE TO WORK UNTIL YOU ARE PAID! I understand that people need the money, I do too. However, if we do this together we will be able to make a point to the Royal Mail and to the illusive Angard which will be impossible to ignore. It's not just about the money, it's also about respect, even though we are temporary workers, we still deserve that!!!

John Foster :cry
Couldn't agree more. A clear message needs to be sent out that we are to be respected and treated as well as their regular staff. I've walked out on them. I've received no pay for my three weeks work. I will raise an Employment Tribunal case against them on Monday for witholding pay and payslips. When the ET claims start falling on their doorstep, maybe they'll listen.

I have also withdrawn my labour. I was told that payments were going into banks as late as 17:00 yesterday but after checking the bank on my break at 17:30 and not seeing any payment I informed my manager I would work the rest of my shift and not be coming back until I am paid. Unfortunately I doubt they really care at all about my leaving as most of the temp staff at our place seem quite happy to stay even though they haven't been paid :confused

Anyway, I fired off an email to angard this morning -
Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to inform you that I will not be attending my shift today (12:00 – 20:00) at Royal Mail Tyneside mail centre because of pay issues. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to contact you by telephone several times yesterday and today regarding this issue. I was due to receive my first wage on Friday 16th Dec, 1 week in arrears as per contract but have not seen any payment hit my bank account as of 11 am today. In light of the troubles other Angard staff are having with payment of wages at Tyneside mail centre and nationwide and as you are in direct breach of contract I will be removing my labour until such time I am paid, in full, for the work I have already done.

Regards,

David Scott
I'm sitting here awaiting a response, not holding my breath though

Didn't get paid along with most others on our shift all set to withdraw labour from Monday, We were given one of those £350 vouchers to cash at the post office.
Took it in to the post office where the barcode was scanned and shock horror........ It worked and i finally got some money, don't know what will happen about future payments though.

To all,

Having not been paid on Friday 16th and then being told I would not recieve the giro/cheque today as promised I, together with others, have walked out and I am refusing to return to work until I have been paid. I sincerely urge others to do the same - angard (which is at least 51% owed by Royal mail) is a mess and quite frankly the Royal mail should have informed new starters of the payroll problems they had been experiencing and put in a system of renumeration to ensure that workers would have money for Christmas.

Refusing to work until paid is the only option we have, particularly as it would seem that Royal Mail are relying on the passivity of workers in order to get through Christmas- promising payment before Christmas which truthfully may not come. Walking out puts serious pressure on Royal mail to act and by raising awareness of the problems with angard/royal mail we may highlight the massive issue of employer accountability/ employee entitlements in a culture of outsourced employment.

It is a subsidiary company of Royal Mail, there are no other owners, Royal Mail is 100% the owner. What has happened is the management/mismanagemt has been passed to REED Specialist Recruitment. The company directors appear to be Royal Mail directors (of either Royal Mail Group or other Royal Mail companies) and a corporate director called REED.

As far as I can see the permies will be next - having transferred all RM employed casuals to Angard (a technical loophole that may allow RM to not conform to new Agency Worker Regulations - a major test case will be needed) - the next stage will be the slimming down of the permies (they couldnt really be seen to be doing this while they employed casuals directly).

After all the Government want to sell off Royal Mail and want to get the best possible price for it.

So to all permies - "Watch out, watch out, Angard are about".

Most of the "permies" will argue they're not exactly looking after them either!

CLEAR AS MUD    Must invest in a bigger fag packet, failing that an accountant! Hats off to Hanna I did get a reply which is something. Does anyone else feel like the change of "working week" was a deliberate ploy to confuse everybody? Despite logging all my hours on my own sheet at home trying to reconcile it to an Angard payslip is a nightmare and considering they appear to miss days/nights off at a whim is it any wonder why we are all totally confused?

Dear ****,

The payment you received on the 16th actually related to the week ending
the 9th, not the 2nd.

I can see from the information you did have one shift missing the previous
week, which I will put through for back dated pay, and you have also not
been paid for your night shift, which I willl likewise fix.

Can you confirm for me whether your other hours for the week ending the 9th
are correct:
Monday 5th: *** hours
Tuesday 6th: *** hours
Wednesday 7th: ***hours
Thursday 8th: *** hours.

If you have worked the night shift on Friday the 9th this should be added
on next week's pay as it runs over into Saturday morning, but if you have
also worked the Friday day shift please let me know and I can get this
fixed too.

As it currently stands I am adding *** day hours for Tuesday 29th and 8 night
hours for Friday 2nd. I am adding these hours to a faster payment list so
you will get the majority by midnight on Monday. Faster payments are paid
as 60% on your wages on Monday, then whatever you are still owed from the
remaining 40% after tax will be added to your next week's wages on Friday.

Our deadline for faster payments is 5o'clock today so if you work out that
you can get back to me with any other missing hours for week ending the 9th
I will add these on, otherwise I can add them on to your wages next week.

Kind Regards
Hannah

Yes Hanna does seem like a bit of a beacon in Angard. I did reply saying how pleased I was for the speedy reply and the clarification. It explained the Angard cock up with my missing hours and why I couldn't get my sheets to balance with the hours paid. (yes I guess i'm one of the lucky ones).

I did suggest that the hours worked could be shown on the payslips in a more detailed way, Hanna replied within the hour:-

Dear ******
I'm afraid the layout of the payslips is fixed and I can't do anything to
change them, but you can check your hours with your royal mail manager to
confirm that he/she has sent the correct number to us in the weekly
timesheet or email us again if you are unsure.

Kind Regards
