Welcome,moved to MC forum.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: working after xmas
3.5 In order to comply with the USO night shifts should normally resume at the scheduled time on 27 December and 2 January (3 January in Scotland). Staff attending will receive the normal bank holiday premium for hours worked on those days. Local Christmas discussions/arrangements should ensure that staffing arrangements are in place to meet these obligations in full, utilising a full range of resourcing options.

Re: working after xmas
Not trying to stir things up but in deliveries some will be working 32 hours as well - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In the past didn't they use volunteers.randall wrote:i do nights but after xmas we have been told we must return to work midnight tuesday night when we will be working wednesday thursday and friday making us work with tuesday 30 hours that week the early and late shifts are working a 24 hour week how can this be right our managers say this is a national agreement but cannot show any paperwork as anyone else had this problem i would like to hear thanks

Re: working after xmas
Manager came round last night asking for "volunteers" for the night...
He got ONE name on the list.... -and that was the office "brown nose"....

And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Re: working after xmas
in our mail centre normally in this situation sunday night starts start back tue 27th and monday night starts start back on wed 28th,also the following week sundays starts would start on monday 2nd and monday starts would start on tuesday 3rd,this year everyone is starting back tue 27th and monday 2nd so over the holiday period i(being a monday night start) will get one extra night off, whoooopppeeee!!!!they will owe me two days but it is just not the same,i wish it could be christmas every day cause i love getting sh*t on.
at this rate i will never get a bank holiday off ever again.
union rep was asked to go and speak to the shift manager as the early and late shift have given extra leave over the holiday period and our leave was cut from 10 to 5,he came back and repeated what he was told and didn't even put up an arguement against it and at one stage told one of my colleagues"if i had my way i'd bring you all in on monday night and pay basic wage" what a guy,and they wonder why half the postmen in the mail centre left the union.

Re: working after xmas
That should happen in our Mail Centre but because of the way our book room operates (idle-good for nothing-spengs) Sunday night staff are working on the Tuesday and the full time night shift workers are back on the Wednesday. It's f----ng wrong!!!! Why the part timers are made to work every Bank holiday is a p--s take.curlybap wrote:in our mail centre normally in this situation sunday night starts start back tue 27th and monday night starts start back on wed 28th,also the following week sundays starts would start on monday 2nd and monday starts would start on tuesday 3rd,this year everyone is starting back tue 27th and monday 2nd so over the holiday period i(being a monday night start) will get one extra night off, whoooopppeeee!!!!they will owe me two days but it is just not the same,i wish it could be christmas every day cause i love getting sh*t on.

If Royal Mail think paying them £400 for 3 nights, then pay them another 8 hrs overtime because most have volunteered to come in on Tuesday night is the way forward, no wonder the ship is sinking.......JOKE COMPANY

Re: working after xmas
I see some posts have stated that sunday nights workers start on the 27th.
In December of 2009 we are told by management that all mail centres across the country were closing on sundays(except for obviously over the festive period)
Can any mail centres with a sunday night working, please post it on here.
thanks

Swindon MC have a small staff on site overnight Sunday, mostly drivers doing DO runs and a few odd bods.
