Royal Mail set to move from Rutherglen to Cambuslang

ROYAL Mail are set to move their sorting operations from Rutherglen to Cambuslang next year.
The company are currently looking at Cambuslang for a possible site, with their lease at Duchess Place is about to run out.
Tom Greatrex MP and James Kelly MSP were at the sorting office last week to discuss the move with workers.
The move is expected to be a straight relocation with no job losses. Royal Mail say the new facility will be bigger than the current office, but there were no plans to expand the workforce.
Jennifer Bird, External Relations Manager, Royal Mail Group told the Reformer: “Royal Mail can confirm that the lease for Rutherglen Delivery office expires in August 2012 as the area is being redeveloped. We are currently in negotiations to try to secure a site in Cambuslang.
“We will be communicating further information to our customers and stakeholders in due course.”
Mr Greatrex and Mr Kelly made their visit to see the preparations that were going on for Christmas - the office’s busiest time of the year.
Mr Greatrex, who himself has worked in a sorting office over the festive period, praised the work of the staff, adding: “It was good to have the opportunity to hear about the plans to move the sorting office to Cambuslang next year.
“This will increase the area covered by the sorting office, to take in not just Rutherglen and Cambuslang, but also the East End of Glasgow. This will mean the hard working staff will be even busier next year.”
Both the MP and the MSP took the opportunity to urge the public to make things easier for posties at this time of year.
Steps that can be taken include using the correct postage and including a post code.
Royal Mail.
The final date to send first class items will be Tuesday, December 1, while second class postage must be sent by December 17 at the latest if you want it to arrive before the big day.
Special delivery items can be sent until Thursday, December 22nd.
Mr Kelly said: “Royal Mail is under considerable pressure at this time of year and I would like to commend the professionalism and dedication of the local posties who are out and about in all weathers and who provide such an outstanding service to local people.”
Alan Drysdale, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager at Rutherglen said: “Christmas is the busiest time of year, and our people really do pull out all the stops to deliver the Christmas mailbag.”

It's good to see the DOM is clued up.
Or do you think he was reading off an idiot board?

actually you really edit his quote there a bit un fairly, Alan is actually a fairly decent manager and does look out for his staff, if you had quoted his full comment you would see it was actually praise for his staff and not just him stating the obvious as your post looks likeclashcityrocker wrote:

All you have to do is copy and paste “Christmas is the busiest time of year, and our people really do pull out all the stops to deliver the Christmas mailbag"...into google to see.

I admit it was a bit naughty of me to edit the quote in that way, I even added a full stop where there wasn't one ......but I thought it was funny.zx135 wrote:actually you really edit his quote there a bit un fairly, Alan is actually a fairly decent manager and does look out for his staff, if you had quoted his full comment you would see it was actually praise for his staff and not just him stating the obvious as your post looks likeclashcityrocker wrote:

It's up to 29 now.
It's visiting time for MP's.
We had ours today.
Maybe we'll be number 30.

Re: Royal Mail set to move from Rutherglen to Cambuslang
There is a more disturbing point to this which shows just how devious Royal Mail can be and just how much of a charade this whole thing is.
If you copy and paste ‘Posties do such an important job at this time of year and I like to thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best over the busy festive period.’
This is what you get...
http://www.google.co.uk/search?gcx=w&so ... .%E2%80%99" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The thing is...that is what the M.P. in each of these delivery offices said
...or obviously didn't say as it is plain to see now that it's an RM press release.
The other embarrassing thing of course is that most of these M.P.s have copy&pasted this onto their own websites...complete with the grammatical error.... "I like to thank them" .

That is truly shameful.
I might write to each and every one of those MPs and ask for an explanation.
Shower of w*****s.

One of our visiting dignitaries was Michael Connarty.clashcityrocker wrote:That is truly shameful.

Michael is Secretary of the CWU Parliamentary Liaison Group.
If this bollocks appears on his website and it hasn't yet...it will be very embarrassing for him.
I will make sure of that.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
